Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) 1933): an agency established as part of the New Deal, which put young unemployed men to work building roads, developing parks, planting trees, and helping in erosion-control and flood-control projects.
Social Security Act (1935):a law enacted to provide aid to retirees, the unemployed, people with disabilities, and families with dependent children. It gave old age insurance for retirees 65 and older, a payment system for unemployed Americans, all paid for by taxes.
Federal Housing Administration (FHA) 1934: gave government insured loans for building, purchasing and repairing homes.
F.D.I.C.: An agency created in 1933 to insure individuals’ bank accounts, protecting people against losses due to bank failures. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (F.D.I.C.) protected bank deposits up to $5,000. Today they are protected up to $100,000.
Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)1933: a federal corporation established in 1933 to construct dams and power plants in the Tennessee Valley region to generate electricity as well as to prevent floods
Public Works Administration(PWA) 1933: created jobs on Government projects
First & Second Agricultural Acts (AAA) 1933: Laws enacted to raise crop prices by paying farmers to leave a certain amount of their land unplanted, thus lowering production.
Securities Exchange Act (1934): Monitors the stock market and enforces laws regulating the sale of stocks and bonds.
Works Progress Administration (WPA) 1935: quickly created as many jobs as possible – from construction jobs to jobs in symphony orchestras
Wagner Act (National Labor Relations Board) 1935: defined unfair labor practices and established the National Labor Relations Board to settle disputes between employers and employees (called collective bargaining).
Fair Labor Standards Act (1938): established a minimum wage and a maximum number of hours in a workweek for the entire country. Set rules for the employment of workers under 16 and banned hazardous factory work for those under 18.
