LL1009 Internet research task into retention and achievement

Purpose:

  • Enable them to become aware of a range of theoretical models concerning retention and achievement

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this task, students will be able to:

  • Discuss a range of research into retention and achievement.

Preparation:

Task to be given a week before

Note to tutor: it is important to check all the web links in advance to make sure they are all still live!

Task:

  • Each student to be given a document available on the web.
  • They will need to find it, read it, and produce a one page summary of the key findings + full bibliographical reference for the other students
  • Give a five minute explanation of what the document is about.
  • Whole group to discuss relevance to their own practice after each presentation
