Sample Mid State Fair Buyer’s Letter – Should be done on nice paper and you should add a picture of you and your animal (clean and looking nice). You can type it if you have really bad handwriting, but hand written letters often show the buyers that you really took the time to do this for them, and not just mass quantity letters. Just a thought. These should be done and sent out asap. No later than the first week of July. We highly suggest you hand deliver these in uniform to people you really want to have buy your animals. It makes a difference! See example below.

Dear ______or To whom it may concern, (if you don’t know)
My name is ______and I will be a sophomore at San Luis Obispo High School. I am a member of the SLO FFA Chapter and I am raising a market swine project for the 2013 California Mid State Fair. This is the first time I have ever raised an animal fro the fair and I am having a great experience. I purchased a 70lb crossbred giltin March (or April) and I have been doing all the feeding, bathing, and walking of my pig since it came home with me. Through being involved with this project and FFA, I have learned other things such as commitment, responsibility, teamwork, and leadership skills.
I …SAY SOME THINGS ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL LIFE LIKE IF YOU ARE ON OTHER FFA TEAMS, PLAY SPORTS, ASB, IF YOU ARE AN OFFICER NEXT YEAR, GOING TO NATIONAL CONVENTION ETC…
I am writing this letter to ask for your possible interest in purchasing my pig at the livestock auction at the fair. With over 500 pigs being sold, we are really encouraged to secure a buyer or interest in buying before we exhibit our animals at the fair. The auction will be held on Saturday July 28that the fairgrounds. I will be using the money earned from the sale of my animal to go towards future FFA projects and leadership activities. (if you have specific ones you should list them here) Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Below is a general budget for what I have and will spend on my market hog project. Last year’s average price per pound was $6.00. If you have any questions about my project pig, please feel free to speak to contact me at (805) ______or you can e-mail me at ______. Thank you for all your time and support.
Sincerely,
