Expectations of the TCU and Assessors at State Championships (including School events)
As a TCU or Assessor you are a representative of Softball Queensland Inc (SQI), and should not act in any manner which would bring the umpiring program of SQI into disrepute.
Where possible you should assist the SQI representative in the safe and effective running of the event.
You will be expected to behave in a professional manner at all times.
This would include the following:
· Act professionally when associating with coaches, players and other officials.
· Wear a suitable standard of clothing as a representative of SQI and the umpiring program.
· Observe the confidentiality of all conversations.
· Have a responsible regard to the examination process and its impact on other SQI representatives eg. Statisticians and Selectors.
· Consumption of alcohol away from the grounds only, and in a responsible manner. No consumption of alcohol at the grounds.
· Reasonable behaviour in public and in the accommodation venue to reflect positively on SQI.
If you nominate for a position of TCU or Assessor, you must be available to attend the event on a full time basis.
If you nominate and are successful you will be required to attend the events to which you have been assigned.
You will give reasonable consideration to travel requirements set by SQI, including reasonable flexibility for flying if required.
TCU and assessors will be expected to provide feedback to all umpires on the crew, whether candidates, fulltime or part time umpires.
Examiners will be expected to contribute and assist the TCU in the evaluation of all umpires at the event. This could include, but not be limited to:
· The development of documentation including candidate assessment forms (prior to the tournament)
· Input into the allocations of umpires (prior to and during the tournament)
· Adjustments to allocations due to injury, rain etc. during the tournament.
· Assist with daily inspection of facilities, and conduct of meetings prior to the start of play.
· Contribute to documentation, feedback and assessment of all the umpiring crew.
Should the TCU be required to leave the event you may be required to perform the role of TCU.
