PAIMAN in New Districts- NWFP
Consultative meeting with district authorities of the additional districts of D.I.khan, Mardan, Peshawar and Charsada was held,in the Post Graduate College of Nursing, Hayatabad, Peshawar on November 6th 2008’. Swat. Besides EDOs health and his key staff members, DCOs and Nazims of Mardan, Peshawar, Charsadaand DI Khan also participated. DG health NWFP Chaired the meeting. Dr. Nabeela Ali, COP made a detail presentationon the Goals andobjectives andthe strategy of the PAIMAN project in order to orient the the Govt. counterpart. After the presentation the district authorities identified the health facilities in which PAIMAN intervention as to up gradation and equipment supplies will be made. They were also requested to provide data on these facilities and the HR as well.
Ceremony of PAIMAN Launch was held in the convocation hall of the Post graduate college of Nursing Peshawar. Minister health NWFP was the chief guest on the occasion. District Nazims of D I Khan, Mardan, Peshawar and Dir upper, and Buner, Secretary health DG health and other officials of the department of health also participated. Other guestsat the launch ceremony were district health staff from the Additional districts of PAIMAN, DCOs of Swat and Mardan, PHSA director and his staff, faculty of the Nursing college, Public health schools Nishtarabad and Peshawar and the LHVs/ CMW of Dir , Buner and FATA.
The chief guest, Minister health and secretary health applauded the contribution ofPAIMAN in reducingthe Mother andchild mortalityin the selected districts.Other speakers included the Provincial director MNCH program. The Nazims of Dir and Buner also shared their experiences with PAIMAN project and highly appreciated the project activities and strategy.
COP JSI/PAIMAN Dr. Nabeela Ali, expressed gratitude to provincial and district Govts and health authorities for their continued support and excellent cooperation and coordination in reducing the miseries of mothers and newborns in the province. She also apprised the participants about the PAIMAN objectives and future plans in the existing district as well as additional districts.
