To start, click on the short cut that has been placed on your desktop for Exam View Pro. When the software opens, you will see the window to the right in the middle of the screen.
The first time we use Exam View Pro will be without using the QuickTest Wizard. The wizard allows you to choose from textbook related question banks. This option will still be available to you later in this process. Please clickCancel.
To begin a new test click on the “New Test” icon on the top menu bar.
Type in your desired test title. When finished click OK.
The following screen will appear that gives you more details about the options available in the toolbar. Click OK to get started.
To begin creating questions, click on the “Question” tab.
Click on “New” and the following test question options will become available to you.
For the purposes of this training we have chosen a multiple choice question as an example. To create your question, you do the following:
1.Type the question above the table. 2.Type four different choices in the table. 3.Select the correct answer.
You can edit, copy and paste and spell check the text. You can change the number of choices and columns. You can add a rationale or additional info about the question for students. When you have finished with the question, simply click “Record”.
Repeat this process for as many questions as you would like. You can also alternate which types of questions you use.
How To Create A Test Using the Quick Test Wizard
We are going to use the QuickTest Wizard to build our test.
We will name the test Practice so please type Practice into the blank field and click Next.
Highlight a question bank that matches your curriculum, click Select.
The test bank will open in to chapters. Select a chapter and it should now appear
in the lower window. Click Next. When creating your own test, you will search for a test bank that matches your curriculum.
For the purpose of this training we are going to click the Select All button. If a teacher wanted to only select a specific amount of each type of question this is the step that they would determine the number of each question type.
Click Next
Here is a summary of all the included questions that will make up your test.
Click Finish.
Here is an image of a completed test. It can be spell checked, formatted, and scrambled using the menu bar. You can also edit and change any of the test questions to best fit the content being evaluated. The file can be printed like a Word Document to use as a regular paper/pencil test. In our later workshop, we will learn how to publish it as a computer based test.
