JOB OPENING: Development Officer – Northwestern and Western Regions

SUMMARY

The Development Officer will secure new gifts to the NCCF throughout the NCCF-affiliated community foundations in the Northwestern and Western regions of the state. This position will work under the direction of the Vice President for Development to identify and cultivate donors toward increased giving throughout the region. The Regional Development Officer will identify and develop relationships with professional advisors individuals, businesses, other foundations and non-profit organizations with a goal of building and growing charitable assets, primarily endowment funds. Residence within the region required, with strong preference for residence in the Hickory/Catawba Valley area.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

I.  Asset Development

·  Implement a regional development plan (current gifts, deferred and planned gifts) in collaboration with VP for Development.

·  Maintain best practices in prospect research, donor cultivation and stewardship to increase gifts from current and future donors.

II.  Relationship Building

·  Develop, maintain and enhance relationships with professional advisors to generate leads for NCCF

·  Work with NCCF affiliated community foundation boards to identify and facilitate donor leads

·  Collaborate and work cross-functionally with other NCCF staff teams

·  Serve as effective and enthusiastic member of Development Team

III.  Marketing/Outreach

·  Seek opportunities for presentations and speaking engagements to professional advisor groups, civic organizations and other entities throughout the region

·  Develop and present programs in charitable giving and related topics as necessary to position the NCCF as a preferred giving option throughout the region

IV.  Technical/Admin.

·  Work with donors to complete paperwork necessary to implement establishment of new funds.

·  Serve as facilities manager for Hickory office.

·  Ensure accurate and up-to-date recordkeeping for new gifts and prospects.

·  Meet targets of contacts and other tracking toward established goals.

Knowledge and Skills

·  Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s degree preferred

·  Minimum of five years work experience in development-related area, such as wealth management, donor stewardship, planned giving, higher education advancement, or non-profit fundraising.

·  Knowledge of planned giving and endowment fundamentals preferred.

·  Individual must be self-directed, highly motivated detail oriented and results driven

·  Strong verbal and written communication skills required

·  Demonstrated ability and comfort with public speaking and presentations

·  Exceptional interpersonal skills, with ability to interact across diverse range of individuals

·  Experience working with community-based boards and volunteer committees preferred

·  Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office

·  Ability to travel throughout the region, excellent driver record required

·  Ability to work during non-standard hours for meetings and events
