MAJOR Grade #1: Summer Math Assignment

Background

The math skills and techniques covered in this assignment are concepts that are absolutely vital for your success in Precalculusnext year. With this summer math practice, you should come to class in August prepared to take a quiz over the skills covered on the first day of school—without a calculator. If at any point you have questions, please email me at the address above. Do not wait until the last minute. You have 11 weeks to complete this assignment; I will not accept any excuses for late or incomplete work. Failure to complete the summer assignment leaves a student unprepared for the material to be covered in the course.

Students will be using the online mathematics resource Khan Academy to review and practice core concepts used in Precalculus. This assignment is meant to keep your hard-earned skills from previous classes strong and fresh so that you have every chance of success over the next year. This is also why I will want you to be able to handle these skills without the help of a calculator. While I don’t expect you to work on them every day, I do expect your full effort.
