“Website Update”`

The website has an updated schedule for the 2014 season. We hope to have player profiles up as soon as possible for parents, coaches, and future Big Bend athletes to view.

“Winter season”

The team has spent all winter lifting and working out hard, along with becoming closer as not only a team but a family. The bond between the girls shows on and off the field. I know all the girls and coaches are ready to start playing and be successful throughout the season.

“Washington State”

A scrimmage has been added to the schedule for February 22nd against Washington State’s club team. It will be a home game at 2 p.m. Come support your Lady Vikes as they kick off the 2014 season.

“Clothing Sales”

Big Bend softball gear will continue to be sold at games and by order. In addition to the t-shirts ($15), sweatshirts ($25), and warm ups

($35), we will begin selling hats. Thank you to all who have sold

“Player Article” from Kelsey

I came to Big Bend because of the small campus and friendly environment from the players, coaches, and faculty. I liked the option of being able to live on campus in the dorms as well as the variety of options at the cafeteria. I also liked the athletic facilities, the availability of the gym and weight rooms, and the good relationships established here. Academically I enjoyed the many tutoring options and small class sizes. The staff is extremely friendly and willing to help students with their needs. I am glad I made the decision to come and play at

.

Big Bend because it is the perfect school to help the transition from high school to college

“Player of the Month”

January’s player of the month goes to Erica Chandler. Erica is from San Luis Obispo, CA

and was a three year starter on varsity for her high school team. She is a tremendously gifted athlete and we are expecting big things from her this season. She has quick hands and feet which help her to excel at the shortstop position. She is also a power hitter with a batting average of over .400. Along with her natural athletic ability, Erica received a 4.0 GPA last quarter. After Big Bend, Erica plans to attend Washington State to pursue a career in accounting. Erica’s hard work ethic and kind hearted personality will lead her to a life of success.

“Schedule Change”

The site of the Mid Season Crossover Tourney has been changed from Yakima to Skagit Valley. Because of the budget impact of that change we are dropping that tournament from our schedule. An updated schedule will be attached to this e-mailing.

“Recruits Visits Welcome”

Now that the regular season has started we encourage those who have not yet made visits

to do so. You can now practice with the team, spend the night in the dorms and tour the campus. A good time to take advantage…

“Team Visits the Board of Directors”

Thanks to an invitation from the Board to visit at their January meeting, all 21 players attended to be introduced to the members and to play a little game of 20 questions. The Board is always interested in meeting athletes in season and finding out who they are and where they all are from. The players received rave reviews from everyone in attendance, Board members and BBCC faculty and staff.
