I am living in Bolivia since 1990 and since 2008 I am working as a consultant.

I worked for UNICEF, the Belgian Cooperation in Bolivia and several Bolivian and Belgian NGO´s.

WORKING EXPERIENCE

July 2003 – February 2008:

NGO-volunteer from the Belgian government in Bolivia for “VOLENS” (Belgian NGO) and the “Centro para Programas de Comunicación”- CPC - Centre for Communication Programs (Bolivian NGO)

Responsible for the Photovoice-project which is the application of a participative communitarian methodology. A project in which people from the base take pictures of their reality related to a certain theme; there are experiences in the themes of tropical forests (with indigenous people of the Tacana and Guarayo groups), cultural patrimony (with the indigenous Aymara group) and communitarian health (in 40 municipalities of the departments of Beni, Santa Cruz and Chuquisaca).

August 1999 – June 2003:

NGO-volunteer from the Belgian government in Bolivia for “Withuis – Alians - Broederlijk Delen – Komyuniti” (Belgian NGO) and the “Asociación de Instituciones de Promoción y Educación” (AIPE) – Association of Institutes for Promotion and Education.

Responsible for the communication-information part of the AIPE-network in general and for the “Programa de Mejoramiento del Estado Nutricional (PROMENU)” – Program of Improvement of the Nutritional State. Responsible for all of the AIPE-publications, including edition, graphic design and lay-out.

January 1996 – July 1999:

NGO-volunteer from the Belgian government in Bolivia for “Bevrijde Wereld” (Belgian NGO) and the “Asociación de Instituciones de Promoción y Educación” (AIPE) – Association of Institutes for Promotion and Education.

Responsible for the communication-information part of the AIPE-network in general and for the “Programa de Medio Ambiente (PROMA)” – Environmental Program and for the “Centro de Información y Documentación en Agroecología (CIDAE)” – Information and Documentation Centre for Agro-ecology.

December 1992 – December 1995:

NGO-volunteer from the Belgian government in Bolivia for Boliviacentrum” and “Bevrijde Wereld” (Belgian NGOs) and the “Asociación de Instituciones de Promoción y Educación” (AIPE) – Association of Institutes for Promotion and Education.

Work as a NGO-volunteer for the Bolivian NGO-network AIPE – in representation of 40 Bolivian NGOs in 8 out of the 9 Bolivian departments (except Pando).

Responsible for the education-department of the PROCOM-program (“Programa de Contención Migratoria” – Program of Migration Contention), financed by the European Union. My responsibility implied the follow-up of all the NGOs and projects related to PROCOM. I made reports (written, audiovisuals, video) in relation to the activities of the NGOs and their projects. The use of these reports where, on the one hand, for educative campaigns and for the financers in Europe and, on the other hand, for educative and communicative aspects of the institutions in Bolivia.

In the course of these 3 years I made 21 reports. This work implied the investigation of the reality and problems of each region where the NGOs were working. The bibliographic and testimonial search, together with the study of the projects, made possible my experience in the formulation, elaboration, follow-up and evaluation of the projects. In order to accomplish with my work, I have had the possibility to travel and know 75% of the Bolivian provinces. These visits have made possible a close encounter with the problems of Bolivian communities, mainly at the level of rural development, health and migration.

September 1988 – December 1992:

“Boliviacentrum”. Belgian NGO. Antwerp, Belgium.

Responsible for the production and diffusion of educative materials. I was also responsible for the documentation centre.

During this period, between 1990 and 1992, I visited 3 times Bolivia to work out projects.

June 1988 – September 1988:

“Natuur 2000”. Belgian NGO dedicated to education and protection of nature and environment. Antwerp, Belgium.

Responsibilities:

·  The documentation centre. Implementation of a codification-system.

·  Lay-out of "Beenbreek", the magazine of the organization.

October 1987 – May 1988:

Ministry of Education. Brussels, Belgium.

Responsibilities:

·  Preparation and the accomplishment of a classification system related to education of higher technical levels.

February 1986 – October 1987:

SAGO – Latin America Centre. Belgian NGO. Antwerp, Belgium.

Responsibilities:

·  Work in the documentation centre and related functions.

·  Copy-writing and writing of articles for the magazine "Solidaridad", published by SAGO.

PRODUCTION OF COMMUNICATIVE MATERIAL

I have made more then 20 visual reports (slides) about various themes, mainly rural.

I have participated in the production of 15 videos about various themes, e.g.: nutritional improvement, agro-ecology, pollution of water in Potosí, forestation, migration, etc.

Between August 1999 and December 2002, I was responsible for all of the publications of AIPE.
