Little Indulgences to Start Your New Year Off Right!
Gin Sander, America’s Affordable Luxury Expert, is the author of two books, Wear More Cashmere and The Martini Diet, about living a more indulgent life. She has great suggestions about how you can start off the year on a more indulgent way—without breaking the bank. By bringing samples and interacting with the hosts, this segment will be filled with action and color:
1. Get yourself a free new look—take advantage of the makeup artists at department store makeup counters. Sure, they want you to buy their products, but it doesn’t cost anything to sit there and be made up like a star.
2. Slip into silk—cheaper than expensive sheets but just as luxurious, a silk “dream sack” will let you drift off in silky splendor. Invented by a woman who wanted to travel in style, this is great for home and on the road. (Jennifer can bring a sample, fun for the hosts to play with! Great visual.)
3. Feet first this year—decide to skip the manicures and spend your money on regular pedicures instead. What could be better than to sit on a throne, your feet in a whirlpool bath, and then be massaged and pampered? The results last longer than a manicure, and the experience is more luxurious.
4. The write moves—expensive stationery is wonderful, and really not all that expensive. Treat yourself to the best and then make it a habit to sit down and write notes and letters on a regular basis. It’s so much more elegant than e-mail. (Jennifer can bring several samples and talk about different price points. Very touchy-feely.)
5. Secret upgrade—upgrade a very private part of your life in a way that will give you a secret thrill all day long. Toss out your old underwear, and indulge in expensive lingerie. (Jennifer can bring samples, and you know the hosts will have fun with this—particularly Ty!)
6. Surround yourself with flowers—why wait until someone sends you flowers? Buy them for yourself on a regular basis. Twenty dollars worth of flowers will make you happy all week long—a bargain! (Will bring a sample of a modestly priced bouquet.)
Other segments Jennifer can do based on her books include:
• How to be veRRRy chic—by re-using, recycling, and re-purposing. Lots of fun examples of what you can make out of what you probably already have.
• High life/low budget—10 ways to live the high life on a small budget.
• Clean house/luxurious house—if you can believe it, there are all kinds of luxury cleaning products available that will leave your place smelling like the Ritz-Carlton. Makes a mundane task a teensy bit more elegant.
We look forward to discussing how these lively segments will work on your show!
