The Fairfield Woods Middle School community expresses its deepest sympathy and condolences to Dr. Title and his family upon hearing of the loss of their beloved son Jack who passed away on Sunday, April 6that the age of 20. Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, friends and community members for supporting two sold out shows of the Fairfield Woods Drama Club’s production ofGreasethis past weekend. The cast and crew were in top form and the show was a smash hit. Most especially, THANK YOU to all of the staff and parents who worked out front and behind the scenes preparing our young people for their stage debut at Woods and for the myriad other tasks that needed to be accomplished in order to mount such a successful show. Builders Beyond Borders Seeking High Student Applicants
for the 2014-2015 Program Year

Norwalk, Conn., Applications are now available for high school students
to participate in the Builders Beyond Borders (B3) program for the 2014-2015 program year. B3
builds “character, responsibility and leadership by engaging high school students in local and
global community service.”

Builders Beyond Borders (B3) is a non-profit organization that engages high school
students – representing more than 20 local high schools – in leadership training through local
and global community service projects. B3 volunteers serve Fairfield County throughout the
school year and travel to a Latin American or Caribbean country in the spring to build needed
facilities for deserving communities. This past winter and spring, B3 volunteers traveled to five
communities throughout the Dominican Republic to build sanitation facilities, a water system
and a clinic. B3 is a great opportunity to make a difference both in Fairfield County and abroad
and connect with like-minded students from local schools. Applications are available on the B3

DISASTER RECOVERY GROUP PERFORMING SANDY NEEDS ASSESSMENT:CT Rises, a statewide long-term recovery organization, is sponsoring a volunteer team from World Renew that is opening a temporary five-day Walk-in-Center at the Fairfield Senior Center, 100 Mona Terrace, to assess unmet Storm Sandy-related needs. A CT Rises volunteer from the Red Cross or from another affiliated organization will also be available at the Walk-in-Center. ______

Camp Invention allows children to explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts via hands-on, creative problem solving activities. It inspires children to be curious about their world and prepares them for the future. The Show Me Basketball Camp at Fairfield Ludlowe High School is pleased to announce another exciting week of camp this summer....John Dailey, the Ludlowe Boys Varsity Basketball Coach, is running the "Show Me Basketball Camp" at FLHS for elementary and middle school age children. The camp will run the week ofJuly 7-11, 2014from9am -12pmat Fairfield Ludlowe High School. The camp counselors will be current JV, Varsity and Graduating Players, as well as returning College Students/former players. It is a fun week for both the players and participants. Hosts for One-Day 11thGrade Job Shadow Program Needed

Fairfield Warde High School, the public high school for many Woods students, is building its Junior Job Shadow program and is looking for community members who can host a student for a one-day workplace experience in late April.

Last year, 50 students requested placements and 42 requests were fulfilled in teaching, engineering, architecture, law, entrepreneurship, restaurant management, animal training, and criminology. This year, student requests include the above plus fashion merchandising, healthcare, speech pathology, IT security, graphic design, all STEM fields, human rights journalism, and many more.

Do you have a job situation that you can share with a student for one day in April? Do you have a friend or connection to a business that would be interested in hosting a job shadow student?

If you can provide a connection to a job-shadow situation for this or a future year, please email Maureen Graney (mom of Ben FWHS ’14, Will TMS ’14, and Harry TMS ’16) , who is helping Kate Lala in the FWHS College & Career Center. Middle school and high school parents are invited to help us build a robust roster of options for our students!
