Aneeka Bott, B.Psychology(Hons.)
Aneeka Bott was a full-time research scientist working in the Department of Pain & Palliative Care (2013-2015). Ms Bottcontributed extensively to studies examining the heritability and associations of the common pain disorders of childhood, restless legs syndrome, iron deficiency and anxious depression. She also assisted members of the SCH Chronic Pain and Palliative Care teams with the design and analysis of various other projects.
Tamara Lang, PhD
Dr Lang was involved with the Pain Research Team first as a part-time researcher, and later as a clinical collaborator. She provided input into a range of chronic pain studies – including studies investigating parental attitudes and behaviours and genetic influences.
Cindy Chapman, B.Psychology (Hons.)
Cindy completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at the University of New South Wales in 2010. Cindy was a temporary full-time, and later part-time, hospital scientist in the Pain Research Unit 2011-2012. She was extensively involved in several projects, including investigations of the heritability of common pain disorders of childhood.
Wen Qiu, B.Sc Hons (Biochemistry), PhD
Dr Qiu was a temporary part-time hospital scientist in the Pain Research team in 2010. She completed her PhD through the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Melbourne on the genetic and molecular characterisation of fibroblasts in breast and ovarian cancers. Dr Qiu contributed to a number of projects, including a sleep study in children with growing pains; recurrent functional pain disorders as predictors of chronic pain in adolescence; and parental education.
Carol Yap, PhD
Dr Yapl was a part-time hospital scientist in 2009 with a strong background in neuroscience and psychology. She made valuable contributions to the research program, including investigating the disgust reaction to needle experience in children, post appendicitis pain and growing pains.
Angie Soetanto, PhD
Dr Soetanto was an enthusiastic team member who worked with the team in 2008, assisting on a range of projects
Esther Chan, B.Sc.(Psychol.)
Esther worked with the team in 2005, funded by a SCH Foundation grant. She focused on a project investigating the school functioning of chronic pain patients.
Theona Bustos, B.Sc.(Psychol.) M.Psychology (Clinical)
Theona was funded by a SCH Foundation grant in 2004 to work with the team to investigate parent behaviour in the context of infant immunisation injections.
Belinda Goodenough, PhD
Dr Belinda Goodenough worked in the Pain Research Unit from 1993 to 2000, contributing enormously to the Unit and to the field of paediatric pain in general. Although Dr Goodenough left the Pain Research Unit in 2000, she remained involved with the team for many more years, co-chairing the International Symposium on Paediatric Pain in 2003 with A.Prof David Champion. The extensive research she carried out with the Pain Research Unit is reflected in the Unit’s publication list.
Kate Juniper, B.Sc.(Psychol.)Hons.,M.Psychol.(Organisational)
Kate was a Research Psychologist working in the Pain Research Unit from 1988 to 1993. She was involved in various aspects of acute and chronic pain research.
Louise Addicoat
Louise was involved with some of the early research carried out in the Pain Research Unit on children’s self-report pain assessment and the development of the Faces Pain Scale.
