New Tools: How to Submit your Artwork Electronically

(Lexington, KY) –The Lexington Art League (LAL) and Kentucky Arts Council (KAC) will join forces in December to present a one-day workshop training artists on electronic application systems and digital technology. “New Tools: How to Submit your Artwork Electronically” (“New Tools”), will take place on Friday, December 6, 10 am – 5 pm at LAL @ Loudoun House (209 Castlewood Drive) with a registration fee of $10. Interested individuals may register now online at or by contacting Julia Curiel at or 859.254.7024.
LAL and KAC have coordinated “New Tools” to include several components to help prepare artists for the technological expectations of today’s world. The workshop will focus on the use of electronic software for submission to galleries, art fairs and fellowships. Emphasis will be placed on ZAPPlication and KASOL, programs specific to LAL and KAC. Julia Curiel, LAL Program Coordinator will walk participants through applying for the American Founders Bank Woodland Art Fair 2009 via ZAPPlication. Similarly, Craig Kittner, KAC Arts Marketing Program Director and Tamara Coffey, KAC Individual Artist Program Director, will demonstrate the KAC application process via KASOL for Kentucky Crafted and Visual Art Fellowships, respectively.

In addition to online application tools, presenters will speak about basic internet navigation, applying to LAL exhibits, and using image preparation software such as Photoshop Elements and Microsoft Office Picture Manager during the one-day workshop. “New Tools” will also feature a mock jury, intended to display how poor image quality and inadequate application materials impact a juror’s judgment. The registration fee of $10 includes lunch served at the Loudoun House.

“New Tools” is open to all levels of experience. For additional information or to register for the workshop, please visit or contact Julia Curiel at or 859.254.7024. Registration deadline is Monday, December 1 at 5 pm.
