Floor Hockey Rules

GENERAL

1.  A game will consist of three 15 minute running time periods with a 2 minute break in between periods. The clock will stop only in the last minute of the 3rd period.

2.  One time per game per team. Each timeout will be no longer than 1 minute.

3.  Games will be played in the old Gill Gym.

4.  Each period will start with a face off.

5.  All extra personal items must be kept in the team bench area.

6.  Everyone must wear a helmet.

7.  6 players including the goalie on the floor at one time.

8.  Any held puck by the goalie will be a face off to the side of the goal.

9.  No player can be in front of their face off man on a face off.

10.  There are no off-sides.

11.  You can ice the puck

12.  All substitutions are on the fly

13.  NO SLAPSHOTS

14.  You must always keep your stick below the waist

15.  If the game ends in a tie there will be one five minute sudden victory period

Penalties

1.  No Body Checks-(5minutes/automatic disqualification)

2.  Unsportsmanlike conduct-(5minutes/automatic disqualification)

3.  High sticking (1-minute)

4.  Hooking (1-minute)

5.  Slashing (1-minute)

6.  Tripping (1-minute)

7.  Pushing (1-minute)

8.  Delay of game (1-minute)

9.  Too many men (1-minute)

10.  Obstruction (1-minute)

11.  Holding (1-minute)

CONDUCT: flagrant foul violations, unsportsmanlike conduct, or abusive and/or derogatory language will not be tolerated and guilty individuals will be subject to banishment from the game. The Director may disqualify any team or individual guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct from intramural completion. Disqualification may be temporary or permanent.

Injuries: You assume any and all risk associated with participating in the intramural athletics program and you agree to hold harmless McDaniel College, their agents, employees, and officials, from any and all claims, lawsuits, losses, or related causes of action for damages or injuries arising from participation in the intramural athletics program. Injuries should be reported to the intramural director and/or the health center. In case of emergency, call Campus Safety at 410-857-2202.
