Instructor Bulletin #15June 2012

Seminar/Webinar Promotion
We are currently in the practice of sending you electronic copies of brochures to send out to your professional networks to promote prompt registration in PD Programs. Due to the increase in individuals using Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn), we also encourage you to promote your seminars, webinars, e-Seminars and Fast Tracks via Social Media tools that are available to you. Thanks in advance for your help with this!

Online Learning Assessments
We appreciate your help with this initiative. As of today, we have 56 online learning assessments uploaded and tested in our Learning Management System. When contacted by the assigned Coordinator for your PD Program, please continue to take the time to complete the template to have an online learning assessment created for your seminar/webinar.

Master Intructors

Did you know that we have a Master Instructor Program? Please check it out by clicking on the link below

As of this point in time, you will see that we have had only four instructors who submitted a portfolio to qualify for Master Instructor status, and we would like to see more instructors doing so. If you have not taken the time to submit a portfolio and you feel that you may be eligible for Master Instructor status, please send me an e-mail to let me know why.

Here are some quotes on why some of our instructors have decided to pursue the Master Instructor Status:

“I have pursued the Master Instructor Status because I wanted to see how far I can go, how difficult is it to obtain recognition like this, whether someone notices that and whether this recognition helps me in networking and obtaining new business opportunities.”

“It's one thing to get up and teach a seminar in order to pass along discrete bits of knowledge in 60-minute increments. It's another thing altogether to be able to leverage that seminar as a platform to contribute towards the advancement of automotive technology. For me, the Master Instructor designation was not something that I necessarily strove for as a credential or wanted for purposes of recognition, but rather was a consequence of my immersion into the spirit of what the SAE is all about. To this end, the criteria for the Master Instructor designation provide an excellent roadmap for good stewardship while simultaneously allowing personal progress and individual contributions to be identified and acknowledged.”

Do you want to serve as a resource for Media Questions and Inquiries?

SAE International regularly receives inquiries from print and broadcast journalists and editors regarding mobility engineering topics and technologies. Such requests often can turn into published articles on the Web or in print. Also, they may be used for broadcast interviews. When we receive such inquiries, we reach out to those who can speak as subject matter experts and, when applicable, members of SAE International committees, seminar instructors, etc.

If you would be interested in serving as a subject matter expert within your topic discipline, please contact me at 724-772-4012 or . If we receive a media inquiry that falls in your area of expertise, you may be contacted. If you agree, we will work to schedule an interview between you and the editor/journalist.

2013 Schedule Deadline
Proposed teaching schedules for 2013 were sent out to instructors about a week and a half ago. We appreciate your timely approval by end of business on Wednesday, June 20, 2012.

I ask that you give the proposed dates strong consideration as changes have many implications to the overall schedule. We spend a considerable amount of time reviewing the past performance of seminars/webinars in our portfolio to determine which programs should be retired and the number of times each of the remaining programs should be scheduled during the upcoming year. We also analyze the 2013 public site locations and/or SAE meetings to determine where each program will have the most appropriate fit, while at the same time making every effort to schedule programs of like technologies together to maximize promotion dollars.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
