Dear Parents,
In August, Davidwill register for the freshman classes offered at Fort Morgan High School. Several teachers and their peers from the middle school recommended that I contact you concerningDavid’s entry into the agriscience and FFA leadership program here at Fort Morgan High.As of now,David is not enrolled in the Agriculture Education program so if it is you desire I can help you through the registration process this summer. David will soon be receiving a call from the FFA officers to help out with some of the programs the FFA has throughout the summer to see if they would be interested in the benefits that the program has to offer.
I have heard a great deal about David from the middle school faculty. They tell me that David is not only a good student, but a wonderful person as well. You must be a very proud parent. I hope you will continue to support David’s success by your encouragement to enroll in the freshman Agricultural Sciences course.
You might be surprised at the diversity of opportunities offered through our agriscience program, FFA and the dynamic agricultural industry, which employs more than 20 million Americans. There are many career opportunities in agriscience, including veterinary science, international marketing, computer programming, biotechnology and genetic engineering. Our agriculture program offers theory into laboratory practice, where students learn the valuable problem-solving and analytical skills that are critical for success in education and careers. Field trips, workshops, seminars and conventions help provide a well-rounded experience for each student. Through the Agriculture program students can earn science and business credits that can be applied towards graduation. Students can enhance their career choices such as med-prep, biotech, ect. through the hands- on experiences offered.
Agricultural Sciences is a course designed especially for students like David, those who are intelligent and have excellent leadership potential. It is a science-based course designed to emphasize the practical applications of science and provides full science credit toward graduation and college entrance requirements through selected universities. Students can choose their pathways to enter the workforce at entry level positions through agriculture mechanics which included all aspects of the welding and mechanical industry.
Students enrolled in Agricultural Sciences can also be FFA members, and in FFA, there are areas in which everyone can excel. Our program develops leadership in students while equipping them with skills that lead to success in college and careers. FFA provides enough activities so nearly all members can earn scholarships to various colleges and universities. If David continues in agriculture for four years, it is almost a certainty to be recruited by one of these schools. For more information about FFA and agricultural education, visit
I hope you will encourage David to register for Agricultural Sciences and become involved in Fort Morgan High School’sagriculture program so David can take advantage of the many learning experiences provided in agricultural education and FFA. If you have any questions, or if I can be of help in any other capacity during the transition to high school, please feel free to contact me at 370-6621 or at 380-1937.
Sincerely,
Greg A. Ditter
