HUNT Pilates Teacher Training Program Description

This extensive learning process will teach students the entire Classical Pilates System utilizing the Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Springboard, Barrels, and various props such as the Magic Circle, jumpboard, and foam rollers. It is one of the most comprehensive Pilates apparatus courses of its kind. Unlike other Pilates training programs HUNT Pilates integrates mat work – the foundation of the Method – into the 4-month study. The Comprehensive Training Course is designed to deliver quality training in a time efficient manner. Most apprentices usually complete the program and receive certification after 6 months. HUNT Pilates Teacher Training is a 12 week course with a total of 472 hours of training after completion. 132 hours of classroom learning, 100 observation hours to be completed at HUNT Pilates, 200 teaching hours, 30 practice hours (depending on experience), 10 Free class practice hours.

Month 1

Beginner Intensive Weekends:33 hours of instruction learning the beginner exercise system on the mat and on the apparatus. Introduction to Anatomy by Dr. Bruce Shannahoff. A full skeleton will be introduced to review and learn all the bones in the body.

Monthly Review: A Strong Foundation to Start: 11 hours discussion of the pelvic floor, Core stabilization and presentation of Anatomy by Dr.Bruce Shannahoff – (Local clinical director ofValleySpinalDecompressionCenter),Build the pelvic floor, Core and diaphragm. First Quiz on Skeleton, bones in the body, and beginner exercises.

Specific exercises taught by Diane Severino, (an elder, Ron Fletchers first student, 37 years of teaching Pilates, Professional Ballet dancer)

Mentor Meeting:Each student will have a 15 minutesit-down with the Director, Kathryn Hunt, to access progress

Apprenticeship:Continue observation and self-practice

Month 2

Intermediate Intensive Weekends:44 hours of instruction learning the intermediate exercise system on the mat and on the apparatus.

Mentor Meeting 2:Meeting with Director, Kathryn

Exams:Mid-term exam, written and practical

Monthly Review: training 2 beginner “examples” through a beginner system. Continue learning from Diane Severino. Start to learn sequences of a session and class format. Anatomy- Full muscular lecture by Dr. Bruce Shannahoff, extremities

Apprenticeship:Training on teaching exercises “to each other” is added to observation and self-practice

Month 3

Intermediate/ Advanced Intensive Weekends: 33 hours of instruction continuing to learn the intermediate exercise system, and an introduction to the Advanced exercise system on the mat and on the apparatus.

Monthly Review:Modifications for exercises. Special considerations for specific clientele. Focus on cueing and imagery in teaching. How to challenge a client with the beginner system by Diane Severino.Anatomy – The spine, a full break-down by Dr. Bruce Shannahoff.

Second Quiz on Anatomy and Intermediate exercises.

Apprenticeship:Earn While You Learn teaching shifts; begin for all qualifying apprentices teaching community classes, Apprentice Mat Class once a week.

Mentor meeting 3: 15 minute sit -down with Director, Kathryn to review progress.

Month 4

Advanced and Props Intensive Weekends:22 hours of instruction learning the advanced exercises and Pilates props on mat and on apparatus

Monthly Review:Full review of anatomy, full review of beginner, intermediate and advanced exercises.Overview of job opportunities for professionals from Kathryn Hunt and Diane Severino.

Apprenticeship: Continue earning while you learn teaching shifts for qualified students in community classes.Assisting Kathryn and other HUNT Pilates instructors in Mat and apparatus classes.

Mentor Meeting 4:final studio meetingAn Eye to Alignment. Anatomy: Focus on facial meridians and how they relate to alignment

Exams:Final Exam written and practical. Intermediate Mat demo assessment: Video-based critique of technique and form

to Structure a springboard and Reformer jump board class. Final 5 page paper (will be discussed in month 1)

$3,750 tuition includes:
