If you need help finding shelter, food or even disaster services for your pets, dial 2-1-1. Here are just some of the things 2-1-1 can help you with: (in and outside Houston)

Hotels on FEMA list that they approve for reimbursements but you must apply.
FEMA will put $500 in your bank account within 48hours if you're approved per the website. (It takes about 6-8 hours to get approved) Apply at:

If your home was ravaged by the floods or sustained any storm damage, you can register your damage with FEMA at 1-800-621-3362.
Find an open shelter near you by texting SHELTER and your zip code to 4FEMA (43362). You can also use the FEMA mobile app.

People without internet access may sign up by calling (800) 621-FEMA (3362).
Individuals who have speech disabilities or hearing loss and use TTY should call (800) 462-7585 directly; those who use 711 or Video Relay Service should call (800) 621-3362. Both toll-free numbers will be operational from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time seven days a week until further notice, according to FEMA.

SNAP
food recipients can now use their benefits for hot foods and ready-to-eat foods, such as rotisserie chicken or grocery store deli foods at retailers that accept SNAP. This will last until Sept. 30.

WIC
participants who evacuated and lost or left behind WIC foods or formula already purchased can go to any open WIC clinic to get replacement food benefits. VisitTexasWIC.org(link is external) or call 800-942-3678. If you are in an area affected by Harvey please press option 3 to speak with an operator from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and have them help you find an open location.

Dallas:
Mayor Mike Rawlings announced Monday that the city will start receiving people flown out of the flooded region this afternoon. The city will also open three emergency evacuation shelters at Samuell Grand Recreation Center, Walnut Hill Recreation Center and Tommie Allen Recreation Center.

San Antonio:
Several shelters are open for storm refugees, according to the governor’s website. Both San Antonio Shelter Hub and San Antonio’s American Red Cross Shelter are hosting those who have evacuated from the floods.

Austin: The Austin Disaster Relief Network also activated a call center to provide both resources and information to families impacted by the storm. You can reach that hotline at 512-806-0800.
