Welcome to Key Stage 2 Year 3 and welcome back Year 4!
We hope that you have all had a super summer holiday and enjoyed the sunshine!
This is our class newsletter to let you and your parents know what is happening in our class this term!
PE starts NEXT TUESDAYat St Chad’s School. You will need to bring a tracksuit to wear over your PE kit to keep you warm as we walk to and from the coach. When the teacher opens the door at 8.45am, come straight into class to get changed, as we will leave school at 9.05am Our swimming lesson is held every Wednesday for the rest of the year.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and collected in the following Wednesday. More information about homework will be found inside your homework book when you receive it. A homework register is kept and those children who return their homework completed and on time, will receive 10 house points and a certificate at the end of each term.
Mrs Carter will be teaching you the Y3/4 spelling patterns this year on Friday mornings. You will have a spelling test the following Friday. It is important that you bring your orange spelling book into school for your spellings to be stuck in and to complete your test in each Friday.
Old Shirts / Magazines
If your parents / carers have any old shirts, please ask them to send them into school so we can reuse and wear them in Art / DT lessons. Also, if you finish reading magazines or comics at home, please bring them into school for our wet play time reading box for other people to read.
Home reading books
Everyone will choose a book to read at home, which should be read for at least 10 minutes each night. When you have finished reading your book, bring it into school and put it in the book tray in class, so that we know you need to change it. When you finish the school’s home reader scheme, you will choose a book from the school library to read at home. The mobile library visits school every 2 weeks and that is an opportunity for you to choose books from the Lancashire Library Service – you will need your library card to take books out – the first visit is next Thursday.
Our topic this half term is Sparks Might Fly and is a Science and DT led topic. Information about this is on our class page on the website. We are looking forward to a fun, happy and hard-working year with you all!
Any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
