Job Summary

The incumbent will be responsible forpositioning First Citizens as the preferred financial service provider for all Government and related entities through providing innovative and competitive business solutions to address the distinct needs of State Owned entities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic and annual business plans, establish goals and targets for the Government Sector as well as develop and execute strategies for the achievement of thesegoals and targets
  • Manage the Government of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago (GORTT) relationships and Accounts which will assist in positioning First Citizens as first class in customer service
  • Review market and economic trends in order to revise marketing strategies and create new campaigns, new strategic initiatives, lines of business and products
  • Plan, develop, and execute a business plan designed to develop new business opportunities with the view of maximizing profits and increasing market share of the GORTT’s wallet
  • Ensure compliance with the Group’sinternal policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements and the Financial Institution Act (FIA)
  • Maintain a program to ensure professional and effective management, retention and expansion of each Government sector banking client
  • Manage and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders and Clients providing the highest level of customer service to the Government sector
  • Present to the Executive and the Board as required with regard to GORTT’s plans and initiatives
  • Ensure that payments are timely from Government agencies and institutions whileensuring that GORTT arrears are monitored and action is taken in accordance with stipulated approval guidelines
  • Collaborate with other revenue units to ensure the cross sell of the Group’s products and services
  • Research and prepare technical and administrative reports, respond to and prepare written correspondence and submit competitive bids for new business
  • Authorize and sign relevant documentation in accordance with delegated authority
  • Interact with third parties external to the Group in the performance of the position’s function as required
  • Engage in Mentoring Managers, Credit Analysts and other Direct Reports for succession and strengthening of the Group’s core competencies
  • Perform all other duties, assignments and special projects as assigned by the Head of the Department

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess a First Degree and post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline from a reputable University or other professional qualifications from a recognized professional body e.g. CFA, CIMA, ACCA and a minimum of seven (7) years progressive experience in Banking operations, at least five (5) of which must be at the Managerial LevelORa First Degree and a minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience in Bankingat the Managerial Level with a successful track record of performance. Working knowledge and understanding of the economic and general business environment and the banking and financial services industry are required for this role. High emotional intelligence, strong leadership and managerial skills as well as strong problem solving and analytical skills are also needed.
