RACE 1 – DIGNA’S CUISINA MOBILE – 2297 METRES

Pre-race swab samples were taken from JAZZY JANE.

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from trainer Zane Medhurst who advised that TERRITORIAL had suffered a tendon injury to its near foreleg and was unfit to start, Stewards ordered the mares withdrawal at 9:30am. TERRITORIAL has been stood down from racing for a period of 28 days. Mr Medhurst advised that the mare would now be spelled.

Rounding the home turn JOHNNYART and BUCKINGHAM BOY locked wheels which remained locked until shortly after entering the home straight, inconveniencing both runners..

VIEW STREET was held up and unable to obtain a clear run over the concluding stages.

PRIDEANDACHIEVEMENT was held up and unable to obtain a clear run over the concluding stages.

GAVRAIL hung out during the event.

Driver Gary Bishop (CHESHIRE CAT) was reminded of his obligations relating to whip carriage.

Driver Kristy Grant (GAVRAIL) was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 162(1)(h) for being out of position at the start.

Stewards queried driver Rohan Hillier as to the tactics on VIEW STREET. Mr Hillier stated that he had intended to go forward at the start however the gelding had become unbalanced late in the score- up and shifted in and he was obliged to then check away from CHESHIRE CAT(Gary Bishop) which was drawn to his inside. Upon watching the films of the start it was evident that the offside hopple shortener pin had come out in the score up. Mr Hillier also stated that the gelding had raced ungenerously around the first turn and he had been unable to activate the other hopple shortener until the end of the back straight when he had got into a trailing position. Stewards noted Mr Hillier’s explanation.

RACE 2 – HARDINGS HOTMIX MOBILE – 1930 METRES

Pre-race swab samples were taken from MINISTRY.

Trainer Ron Mansfield(BYMARJAC) was reprimanded for not having the freeze brand clipped on that gelding.

In the score up PUT MBACK contacted the mobile barrier arm and then raced rough momentarily. PARTYBOY GLENWOOD which was drawn behind that gelding then became unbalanced when restrained and lost some ground and as a result was not in position as the start was effected. No action was taken against PARTYBOY GLENWOOD.

FAITHFUL JET had a tendency to both hang in and out throughout the race, most noticeably rounding the home turn.

BYMARJAC was held up and unable to obtain clear running rounding the home turn and in the home straight.

RACE 3 – BOTRA CLAIMING NOVICE DRIVERS HEAT THREE – 2297 METRES

Pre-race swab samples were taken from HIGHLY PERSUASIVE and STAREESHAR.

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from trainer Nathan Ford who advised that MONARCO PLAYBOY had nasal discharge and was unfit to start, stewards ordered the geldings withdrawal at 2:00pm. MONARCO PLAYBOY has been stood down from racing for a period of 28 days which may be varied upon production of a veterinary certificate as to the reasons for the scratching.

Trainer Ronald Mansfield advised that BOUTIQUE ART would look to be driven forward if possible and then drive with a sit. Stewards approved the change of tactics and after beginning well and with no position available driver Justin Howlett was then obliged to restrain.

HIGHLY PERSUASIVE which tired over the concluding stages underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a normal recovery rate. Driver Kristy Grant could offer no explanation for the poor performance, stating that the mare had led comfortably and travelled well before weakening from the home turn. Trainer Roger Brown was at a loss to explain the performance stating that the mare had recovered well on the morning after the run.

STAREESHAR pulled hard in the early stages and was then inconvenienced as RAINBOW PHOENIX (Samantha Freeman) took up a position in the one out line in the back straight on the first occasion. Miss Freeman pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 168(1) for intimidatory driving. In determining penalty stewards considered that the offence was of a low level and Miss Freeman was fined the sum of $100. Stewards also inquired into an incident racing toward the back straight on the final occasion when RAINBOW PHOENIX shifted three wide and as a result BADTOTHEBONE (Lee Simmonds) was obliged to race four wide. Miss Freeman pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 163(1)(b) for causing BADTOTHEBONE to cover more ground than necessary and her licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of two race dates. Miss Freeman applied for and granted a deferment and her suspension will now commenced at midnight 5th July and expire at midnight 13th July 2015.

Driver Wade Rattray (CHIEF DESTROYER) was reprimanded under AR 162(1)(t) for shouting loudly rounding the home turn and early in the home straight.

Stewards adjourned an inquiry into CHIEF DESTROYER being out of position at the start.

STAREESHAR tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 63.5 metres. Connections have been advised that STAREESHAR has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

FOREVER ARMA NZ tired from the 400 metres. Driver Allister Woods reported that he was unable to release the hopple shortener pins until late in the race and as such no action was taken against FOREVER ARMA NZ for tiring.

Post-race swab samples were taken from CHIEF DESTROYER the winner of event.

RACE 4 – ROBIN WILSON CLAIMER – 2286 METRES

Pre-race swab samples were taken from PACIFIC SOUL NZ.

Trainer Heath Szczypka was reprimanded for failing to have the freeze brand of BABYITSU clipped.

Trainer Steve Davis was fined the sum of $50 for failing to notify a driver for CATS AND DOGS by the required time.

GIVITANAME was fractious before the start and broke through the standing start tape which then had to replaced, delaying the start. GIVITANAME which then galloped out has been placed on its last chance in the draw for future standing start events.

Stewards adjourned an inquiry into driver Mark Yole’s actions shortly after the start whilst GIVITANAME was galloping.

PACIFIC SOUL NZ which galloped out has been placed out of the draw for future standing start events. The gelding was then held up rounding the home turn and early in the home straight.

CATS AND DOGS which galloped out has been placed on its last chance in the draw for future standing start events.

JOHNNYACE was held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn.

RACE 5 – BOTRA CLAIMING NOVICE DRIVERS HEAT FOUR – 2297 METRES

Pre-race swab samples were taken from ISUNDULA ARTIST.

The start of this event was initially delayed due to Sky Channel being late to cross to the venue.

ACEY BOY was fractious in the score up and hung out in the score up and as a result MUSTANG MINTY and BLUES ACE were unable to get into position and the starter called a false start. Driver Kristy Grant (BLUES ACE) was fined the sum of $100 under AR 162(1)(b) for failing to comply with the starters direction in that she failed to maintain position as the field continued behind the mobile after the false start and as a result the second attempt at the start was delayed.

When the runners were again called up ACEY BOY was again fractious in the score up, hanging out and being out of position, however runners on the second row were not inconvenienced and the start was effected with ACEY BOY out of position.

BLUES ACE was held up early for clear racing room rounding the home turn.

LAST GUY STANDING pulled hard whilst leading the event.

Stewards delayed the all-clear to this event in order to view the films of the start with driver Lee Simonds (ACEY BOY) and trainer Ben Yole. After viewing the films both were satisfied and all clear was given on the judge’s numbers. ACEY BOY has been placed out of the draw for future mobile start events.

Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred racing off the back straight on the first occasion which MASTER PAIGE (Lyarna Graham) tightened BLUES ACE (Kristy Grant) down onto MUSTANG MINTY (Adrian Collins) which then broke. Driver Lyarna Graham pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 163(1)(a) for contributing to the interference and her licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 2 race dates. Miss Graham applied and was granted a deferment with her suspension to start at midnight 3rd July and expiring midnight 12th July 2015.

Trainer Geoff Madden pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 205 for going on the track to adjust hopple shorteners on MASTER PAIGE. Mr Madden was fined the sum of $50.

RACE 6 – LINX COFFEE VAN PACE – 1910 METRES

Pre-race swab samples were taken from CANHOLDAGRUDGE.

The start of this race was slightly delayed due to the delay in Race 5.

METRO MOUSE which galloped out has been placed on its last chance in the draw for future standing start events.

FIRST ELVA which galloped out has been placed on its last chance in the draw for future standing start events. The filly then raced rough and raced fiercely and proved difficult to restrain as it raced up onto the back of the leader CANHOLDAGRUDGE and also then shifted out and contacted the sulky of KARALTA BOOMER which sustained a flat near side tyre.

KARALTA BOOMER which galloped out will continue to be placed out of the draw for future standing start events.

BYJAM which galloped out will be placed on its last chance in the draw for future standing start events.

GOGGO GEE GEE was held up and unable to obtain clear racing room over the concluding stages.

FIRST ELVA which tired to be beaten 55 metres underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Connections have been advised that FIRST ELVA has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

RACE 7 – ARGOSY MOTOR INN MOBILE – 1930 METRES

The start of this race was slightly delayed due to Sky Channel being late crossing to the venue.

BLISSFULL GLENWOOD which hung out after the startthen further hung out on the first turn and broke. After hearing evidence from drivers Adrian Collins(BLISSFULL GLENWOOD) and Adrian Duggan(BE GOOD FRANKLIN) it was established that the filly had broken free of interference and she has been placed on her last chance to race truly. BALDOCK was slightly inconvenienced and broke.

INNER CITY was held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn.

Driver Heath Szczypka was advised that Stewards would inquire into his actions after crossing the finish line.
