The SouthwestAlabamaLawEnforcementAcademyand the Baldwin Co. Sheriff’s Office are presenting a two day Edged Weapon Survival For Law Enforcement on February 11 – 12, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Academy located at the Baldwin Co. Sheriff’s OfficeTrainingCenter, 15950 Mosley Road, Stapleton, AL. 36578. The cost of this course is $150.00 per person. Pre-payment is required for this class no exceptions.
If you ask most cops about how they deal with the edged weapon threat they are likely to say something about “shooting the bad guy” or staying 21 feet away.
In Edged Weapon Survival for Law Enforcement we first dispel myths, then teach about the reality of the edged weapon threat in law enforcement and how to manage it.
This intensive two day course is intended to educate the officers about the use and defense of edged weapons. This course provides skill sets that are compatible with all use of force paradigms, while at the same time putting the safety of the officer at the forefront.
Day I- Spontaneous Attack Suppression
Topics covered include- Three phases of an edged weapon attack
Use of force Common angles of attack
Combative Fundamentals Constant tactical positioning
Combative Anatomy Responding to furtive movement
Selection, carry, deployment, and use of edged weapons Principle based responses
Day II- Tactical Folding Knife for Law Enforcement
Topics covered include-
Role of the tactical folder in law enforcement
Selection, carry, and use of the tactical folder
Principle of required extension
Role of the live hand
Both days will include force on force. Safety gear will be provided.
Required equipment - mouthpiece, wrap around eye protection, duty belt (with keepers), Blue Gun or issued weapon with training barrel.
Suggested equipment- body armor.
Uniform of the day- BDUs or other comfortable clothes.
Registration required by 08JAN10.

This is a Law Enforcement only class open to sworn LE and Military Personnel.
