A Tentative UW-W Strategic Planning Committee Timeline (Spring 2016)

January / Launch Phase
  • Strategic Planning Committee holds organizing meeting (19 January, 1p -3p)
  • Announcement made to campus about kick-off of strategic planning process and Town Hall Meeting
  • Strategic Planning Committee launches webpage and develops a communication plan
  • UW-W Strategic Planning Committee hosts Town Hall Meeting (tentatively scheduled for 28 January, 2p-5p) (back-up date: Monday, 8 February; 9a-Noon, or 2p-5p)

February / Incubation and Reflection Phase I
  • Strategic Planning Committee (or subset of Committee) engages in review of information gathered from Town Hall Meeting, identifying recurrent themes/ideas/topics as preliminary findings
  • Strategic Planning Committee disseminates preliminary findings (i.e., themes/topics) to campus (and alumni? And community?), and gathers (Qualtrics and LEARN Center lunch sessions) feedback about preliminary findings, thoughts about other themes, etc. (shooting for release within 7-10 days of Town Hall meeting)
  • Strategic Planning Committee engages in review and discussion of:
  • campus feedback regarding Town Hall preliminary findings;
  • select UW-Whitewater information and data; and
  • select information about UW System planning and trends in higher education;
  • Strategic Planning Committee develops its position on UW Whitewater key strategic issues
  • Strategic Planning Committee develops preliminary draft of mission commitments, vision and values statements, potential strategic goals and potential strategic activities to share with the internal and external constituent groups

March / Constituency Feedback Phase
  • Members of Strategic Planning Committee schedule and hold face-to-face meetings with constituent groups across campus (and off campus, as relevant), discussing and gathering feedback about preliminary draft documents
  • Strategic Planning Committee meets with Chancellor’s Cabinet to determine alignment of strategic goals and activities with other campus commitments

April / Incubation and Reflection Phase II
  • Members of Strategic Planning Committee complete Constituency Feedback Phase
  • Strategic Planning Committee convenes to review feedback gathered from Constituency Feedback Phase and develop final draft of UW-W Strategic Plan
  • Strategic Planning Committee drafts a strategic plan, selecting key goals and key activities for each goal

May / UW-W Strategic Plan Reveal
  • UW-W Strategic Plan shared with the campus
