About Hans Andersen Club (

Vision

We believe that a harmonious parent-child relationship can be established through storytelling and creative games. Hans Andersen Club therefore provides accessible resources and training on storytelling and play for families in Hong Kong. Its aim is that children can enjoy holistic development and become all-rounded successors in the future.

Aim

Cherish our Children, Cultivate our Community

Storytelling

Reading is the perfect way to broaden children’s horizons and to nourish their minds. Storytelling plays an important role in promoting one’s imagination, self confidence and parent-child relationships. The Storyland ( trained staff provide storytelling service to schools, public libraries and business sectors. By engaging the force of volunteers, we hope to sow the seeds of reading among families in society. In the Storyland there are over 1,000 high quality books available. Resource kits and tips on storytelling are also available for borrowing. A new website, ‘ReadingGarden’ has been established to provide accessible and focused storytelling resources online.

Creative Games

We believe that all children are entitled to ‘play’. Though playing creative games, children can learn to cooperate with each other and to discover their inner selves. It is also a good means to enhance family bonding. Chuk Yuen Centre and Diana Boyd Wilson Centre are equipped with well facilities play rooms, and trained staff adopt techniques learnt in play therapy to better communicate with children and families with special needs.

Boundless Care

In order to cover the needs of inhabitants of outlying island, Lamma Island Centre and Tai o Centre have been established to help foster the continuous growth of these unique communities. For example, Tai O Centre Cyber Learning Centre helps to provide digital solidarity services for villagers. On the other hand, a community farm on LammaIsland provides a platform for better communications among people from different walks of lives on the island.
