Job Title:Head Coach
Reporting to:Lead Physical Activity Advisor
Location:Working in schools in North West Leicestershire (LE11, LE12, LE65, LE67 & DE74 postcode areas)
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Excellent knowledge and hold qualifications of sports coaching, including:
- A recognised NGB Level 2 Coaching Certificate (mandatory)
- Child Protection/Safeguarding Children certificate
- First/Emergency Aid certificate
- Enhanced CRB clearance and/or no convictions (mandatory)
- Further educational or vocational qualifications in sport (not mandatory)
- Experience and knowledge of working with children and young people (desirable)
- Competent in literacy and numeracy
- Competency to perform at consistently high standards in a school and coaching environment:
- Be able to plan a range of innovative coaching sessions and programs.
- Set-up and deliverhigh quality sports coaching sessions to children and young people.
- Develop and inspireyoung people to live and lead active lifestyles.
- Be able to produce accurate assessments and reports on young children/people’s progress.
- Knowledge of the school PE National Curriculum (desirable).
Main Duties: Deliver sport and physical activities to children and young people, both in school curriculum time, following the PE National Curriculum and/or set programs of study, and OSHL (Out of School Hours Learning), in the form of extra-curricular activities before school, at lunch times, after school and during school holiday periods, 7 days a week including evenings and weekends . Lead and take part in coaching activities, as required, and provide support, training and advice to new and existing coaches, including assisting Induction and regular training days. Lead and take part in promotional activities in all areas of the business, including within schools and communities. Take part in sales activities to generate new business to agreed targets, including sales meetings and promotional events. Ensure existing business is retained, to agreed levels, includingregular liaison with all customers.
Skills and Experience:
A keen interest in sport, own transport and basic computer skills are essential. Applicants must be reliable, self-motivated and be able to use their own initiative. A passion for coaching and inspiring young people through engagement and participation in physical activity and sport is desirable. Previous sports coaching or teaching experience in a school environment would be beneficial to the applicant. Experience of supervision or management of staff would also be beneficial.
Hours of work:Full time – 30 hours per week, as required by the needs of the business (exact hours to be agreed, but will include some weekend work)
Salary / Hourly Rate:
£10,000 basic per annum plus bonuses.
The successful candidate will undergo constant ‘in house’ training and personal development and will be expected to attend additional external training in order to enhance their skills used within the job role.
