Mentor Visual iQ Software Upgrade Instructions
INSTRUCTIONS:
The following instructions apply to Microsoft Internet Explorer version 11 browser, when using older versions or different browsers the steps may be slightly different.
1) Downloading the file and preparing the upgrade thumb drive.
- Initiate the download of the upgrade fileMViQ_SW_1.5.zip
Note - The file size is over 5GB, download times may be excessive depending on connection speed. Its recommended to use a high speed internet connectionif possible - At the prompt select “save as” to choose a specific location, select save to desktop.
- Plug in a blank thumb drive or USB hard drive(8GB or larger) to the USB port of the PC.
Note – The drive must be formatted for FAT32 to work as an upgrade drive on the MViQ system.
- Locate the file MViQ_SW_1.5.zip folder located on the desktop
- Select Extract All Files on the top of Windows Explorer window.
- Browse to the root directory of the thumb drive and select extract.
Note – Your thumb drive may not map to ‘D’ like the example below just be sure to select thumb drive you will use for MViQ upgrade.
Select Okay
Select Extract
Note – The extraction of the file to the upgrade drive may take upwards of an hour depending on computer speed and drive performance. Fastest results will be achieved using a PC and upgrade drive that support USB 3.0
- Upon completion, “safely remove” the thumb drive from the PC using the eject icon.
2)Ensure that the handset to be upgraded has a full battery charge and is plugged into AC power.
3)Plug the USB drive into a handset and power on the device while holding both trigger buttons on the underside of the Handset handle.
- The trigger buttons can be released once the GE logo appears on screen.
Note: If the trigger buttons aren’t held firmly, the upgrade will not proceed. Please repeat Step 3.
4)The upgrade software will automatically search for upgrade files once it starts up
- If no upgrade files found, select “Search Again”, in combination with removing/inserting the upgrade drive or using a different USB upgrade device.
5)The upgrade SW will not display the current system version. It will, however, display the upgrade SW version in the upper right.Press “Upgrade System” to begin the upgrade. Press “Shutdown” to exit without upgrading.
Note – If “Shutdown” is selected the upgrade can be attempted again at a later time.
6)Once the upgrade completes, the “”Reboot” button appears. At that point, it’s safe to remove any USB drives and press “Reboot”.
7)The system will now reboot multiple times to finish the upgrade process.
Note – The upgrade has completed when the Initial language selection or Live video screen is shown.
SPECIAL CASES:
1)Upgrade software indicates that a failure occurred during theupgrade
- Verify that no errors occurred when copying the upgrade file to the USB drive and press “Retry” to attempt the upgrade again.
- If the upgrade fails multiple times, contact customer support.
2)Upgrade is interrupted (due to e.g. power loss or removal of USB during upgrade)
- Attempt to perform the upgrade again; the upgrade software will attempt to resume the upgrade.
- An in-progress upgrade must be completed before an upgrade to a different version can be started.
- Contact customer support if the handset does not boot or the upgrade software indicates that the system is corrupted.
