COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to provide the law enforcement investigator with the knowledge and understanding of how to target, develop, and manage the confidential informant. The law enforcement investigator/officer will learn the Do’s and Don’ts of CI management, as well as the importance of proper documentation, planning, and control of the CI, to include the consequences of poor CI management.

·  Regular Drug Testing

·  Targeting Potential Sources

·  Intelligence Gathering

·  Have a Plan-Managing the CI

·  Surveillance and Supreme Court Decisions

INSTRUCTIONAL GOAL

The goal of this course is intended to provide the law enforcement investigator/officer with the tools needed in order to properly develop and manage the confidential informant, with an emphasis on proper documentation of any and all dealings with the CI.
