FUNERAL SERVICE OF PTE ROBERT BROWN – CHANTERLANDS CREMATORIUM, HULL 31 MAY 2018.

GENERAL

1.The funeral of Pte Robert Brown will take place at Chanterlands Crematorium31 May 2018. This will be followed by a Wake atThe Ryder Social Club. Unfortunately, we are unable to conduct an official military funeral however, The Yorkshire Regiment Family will support the service by providing Marshalls and aBearer Party.

AIM

2.The aim of this letter is to encourage maximum attendance from across the regimental family and inform all participants of the detailed timings and arrangements for the service.

LOCATIONS

3.The locations of the Church service and Wake are as follows:

  1. Chanterlands Crematorium, Chanterlands Avenue, Hull, HU5 4EF.
  1. The Ryder Social Club, 102 Coltmas St, Hull, HU3 2SJ.

ROLES/ RESPONSIBILITIES / ACTION

4.The following will be provided.

  1. Bearer PartyWill be provide by close friends and members of 2YORKS FSG.

OUTLINE PROGRAMME

5.The Service will be separated into two phases:

a.Phase OneCrematorium.

b.Phase TwoWake.

6.Phase One

a.The forming up stage of the service will be informal. It is advised that allpersonnel who wish to attend the funeral servicerendezvous atChanterlands Crematorium1015hrs.

  1. Parking will be limited, under no circumstances will any parking beauthorised

by the main entrance to Chanterlands Crematorium. You will need to plan for this in advance.

c.All are to be seated inChanterlands CrematoriumNLT 1025hrs and the servicewill commence at 1030hrs. It is estimated that the service will take approximately 45 minutes.

d.Standard Bearers are requested to liaise with WO1 Patrick and parade underthe direction of the Senior Standard Bearer at 1020hrs at the main entrance to Chanterlands Crematorium.

7. Phase Two

a.The Wake will be held at The Ryder Social Club, the regimentfamily and friends have been invited to join the Roberts family tocelebrate his life, share stories and to give him the send-off he deserves.

SERVICE SUPPORT

9.Dress. Dress for the FP is as follows:

a.Officers and WO1’s. Service Dress, Medals, Leathers, Forage Cap.

b.WO2’s. As above, BrownLeather Drop Belts are to be worn.

  1. Other Ranks. No2 Dress, Medals, Forage Caps, greenbelt.
  1. Veterans. Blazers wearing medals
  1. Civilians. Bright colours as per Roberts request.

10.Catering. A small buffet lunch will be provided (if there’s a larger turn out than expected could I kindly requested we ensure that the family and friends eat prior to the regimental family).

CONCLUSION

11.Although Pte Robert Brown was no longer serving, it is important that we as the regimental familycontinue to provide support to our veterans and family through these difficult times.The co-operation of all those attending is essential to ensure Pte Robert Brown and his family have the funeral he rightly deserves.
