TALLY ANNOUNCES BID FOR METRO COUNCIL DISTRICT 24

NASHVILLE – Local attorney and Sylvan Park resident Sarah Lodge Tally announced today that she has filed qualifying papers to run for Metro Council in District 24.

“I'm excited about what’s happening in Nashville and in District 24, in particular, and I want to help shape our community's growth over the next four years. This District needs a responsive leader who will listen to the varied interests of residents and businesses and who will advocate for every neighborhood. We need someone who can find common ground and bring people together to facilitate balanced growth, support our school system, and improve public safety,” said Tally. “My conversations with neighbors in every corner of the District – from Sylvan Heights to Whitland, White Bridge Road to Whitworth – have only confirmed that my vision matches that of the district's residents.”

Tally was born and raised in Nashville, and attended Percy Priest Elementary School, Stokes Middle School, and Harpeth Hall. She graduated from the University of the South and received her law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. She is a health care regulatory attorney at the firm of Miller and Martin.

Tally is co-chair of the Harpeth Hall Young Alumnae Council and serves on the founding board of Nashville Preparatory Charter School and on the Junior Board Committee of the YWCA. She was a fundraising assistant on Governor Phil Bredesen’s 2002 campaign and worked as the legislative correspondent for Congressman Jim Cooper. Tally is married to Trey Tally, a Nashville native, and they attend Christ Church Cathedral, where Sarah has been a life-long member.

“Sarah is a natural leader and great listener. She will be a strong advocate for our neighborhoods,” said longtime District 24 resident and community leader John Cooper.

Former Commissioner of Finance and Administration Dave Goetz will serve as the campaign’s treasurer. Russell Riebeling will serve as campaign manager. Follow the campaign at [Facebook, Twitter]. Tally may be reached at or (615) 483-3355.
