KEMPTON NEW CHURCH NEWSLETTER, June, July and August 2012 page 3

THE LORD’S COMING

I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches; I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the bright and morning Star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come; and let him who hears say, Come; and let him who thirsts come; and he who desires, let him take the water of life freely.

He who testifies these things says, Yes, I come quickly, amen. Yes, come, Lord Jesus.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Rev. 22:16-17, 20-21

He who knows anything about the Lord’s coming, and about the New Heaven and the New Church, thus of the Lord’s kingdom, should pray that it may come. And he who desires truths should pray that the Lord may come with light, and that he who loves truths will then receive them without his own work.

Apocalypse Revealed 956

Here at the end of the book [of Revelation] the Lord speaks and the Church speaks, as the Bridegroom and the Bride. The Lord speaks these words: “Yes, I come quickly. Amen,” and the Church speaks these: “Yes, come, Lord Jesus.” These are words of betrothing to the spiritual marriage. Apocalypse Revealed 960

FROM THE PASTOR

The Lord’s Coming: The Lord is always urging us to receive Him. “Yes, I am coming quickly; Amen.” He wants us to welcome Him because He loves us and wants to be with us, so that He can keep us safe and make us happy.

The Lord stands at the door and knocks, but He never barges in. He waits for us to say, “Yes, come, Lord Jesus.” (See Revelation 3:20.)

We say, “Yes, please come in,” by acknowledging that the Lord is our God, our Creator, our Redeemer, and our Savior. When we really acknowledge the Lord, then we thirst to understand Him and His plan for our life. The Lord begins to enlighten us in spiritual things and help us advance toward wisdom (see TCR 766), by fleeing from evils as sins and acknowledging that all wisdom is from the Lord, not from ourselves.

Through the course of our lives, we come to the Lord more and more, even as He is coming to us. We consent more and more to the marriage of the Lord and the Church within us. “Yes, come, Lord Jesus!”

Holy Supper will be offered on Sunday, June 17th. When the Lord sent out His twelve disciples on the 19th of June, 1770 to preach the good news that the Lord God Jesus Christ reigns, this was a fulfillment of His words in Revelation: “Blessed are they who come to the wedding supper of the Lamb” (Rev. 19:9; TCR 791). We too are blessed to come to His supper!

Holy supper will also be offered on July 22nd in the evening.

New Church Day Celebrations:

Sunday School and Holy Supper Service on Sunday, June 17th.

Family Service and Pageant on Tuesday, June 19th at 5:00 p.m.

Gifts: After the close of the service, silver wedding anniversary and New Church Day gifts will be presented. Please phone Heather King (6261) if you know of children who will be visiting Kempton on New Church Day.

A picnic will follow the gifts, including bring-and-share desserts.

A Woods Service and an Evening Service will take place on the last Sundays of the months except in July: June 24, July 22, August 26 and September 30, weather permitting.

July Woods Service Rain Date: If the weather is wet on July 22, there will be an indoor family service that day and the Woods Service will be rescheduled on July 29.

Summer Sermon Services: In July and August we do not schedule Sunday School teachers but we arrange for adults to supervise the children playing outside during the sermon on the first and third Sundays of the months. Please check page 4 to see when you are on duty. Thank you for helping out.

Society Meeting Highlights: Our treasurer reported that we are a little behind where we were at this time last year. We need $126,000 in contributions to balance the budget. Next year’s budget will be a bit easier due to some retirements. We have raised $157,000 in the Healthy Church Match program this year, for a total of $1.9 million once the match is received. In this way we have reduced our subsidy by more than $20,000. The Building Committee has organized all proposed projects on a chart and is identifying priorities. Thanks to Doug Robertson for donating his time and skills to create new handi-capped parking spaces.

A New Worship Book is in the works. Please offer your comments on the translation of the recitations and on hymns for a new book. We hope to get it ready by the end of the summer.

Woods Clean-up: On Friday, June 22 at 5:00 p.m. there will be a work party to clean up the area where we have our woods service. If you can’t come at that time but would like to help, please give me a call.

ANNIVERSARIES

Since man lives as a man after death, and man is male and female, and the masculine is one thing and the feminine another, being so different that the one cannot be changed into the other, it follows that after death the male lives as a male and the female as a female, each being a spiritual man. Stringed instrument lessons: Please contact Arian Hungaski 610-756-6202 or if you are interested in your child participating in group stringed instrument lessons from Simon Maurer next school year. Let me know if violin, viola or cello is most appealing to your child. The cost will depend on how many children are in a group. His fee structure is a flat $495.00 for 28 45-minute lessons over the school year. Groups can be as large as 5. 1st -3rd graders will be grouped together and 4th-6th graders will be grouped together. Beginner older children would be welcome in the 4th-6th grade group. The lessons will be back to back in case you have a child in both groups. If you are interested but concerned about the cost, share your interest with me as there may be options. Mr. Maurer suggested that viola and cello can often be easier to master for older children as the fingering is better suited to their larger hands. He cannot teach a mixed group of instruments so the parents of each group will have to agree on an instrument.Mr. Maurer taught a beginner violin course this past year and the parents and children were pleased enough that most of them will be participating in a second course of lessons.
