The following question was asked prior to the deadline for requests for clarifications or interpretations to the RFP.

Q: Is 508 compliance an absolute requirement, or is it is “a nice to have” for the courseware?

A: Although the County is not required to comply with Section 508 for online content, we are supposed to provide an alternative means of access for someone with a disability, but only if it requested by that someone.

In the case of the RFP, if 508 compliance makes the project cost prohibitive, we can opt for the non-compliant one. Potential bidders should consider submitting a standard bid and a 508 compliant bid for cost comparison purposes.
