Reading & Writing
We finished reading “Stone Fox” and students practiced creating alternate endings to a novel. Students were also given the opportunity to take the Reading Counts test on the book and earn an additional 8,850 words! We also began our first unit book project – Making book covers - listing characters, plot, problem, solution, and creating an alternate cover.
In writing we are working on our small moments topic paper. Our focus this week is on elaborating on the three top details of the moment. Students are using their interactive notebook to complete and record the different phases of this writing assignment.
Please use Spelling City to help students practice their weekly spelling words as well as the Scripps spelling bee words. www.spellingcity.com

In Math this week we finished Unit 1 with exploring number patterns, and making differences with money. We reviewed for and had our first Math assessment. / In Science we learned about measuring tools, time and temperature tools, and why it is important to a scientist to use the correct tools.
