Primary Purpose:To take a lead role within the Care Academyon ensuring the continued delivery and effective developmentof curriculum provision through effective management support.

Location: ncnBasford and ncn Clarendon

Overview of responsibilities

This role profile provides an overview of the specific responsibilities for the Academy Lead role which is in addition to the substantive responsibilities for teaching and learning.

This key role will be responsible for the development of curriculum as required to achieve team and Academy objectives, by coordinating the contribution of team members to achieve planned outcomes. You will be responsible for a team of lecturers teaching on specific programmesfor which you are the AcademyLead, providing guidance, supervision, and conducting annual performance and development reviews.

Work with the Head of Academy to manage the day to day business ensuring learners receive an excellent experience.

Work with the Head of Academyand the cross-college cluster network of Advanced Practitioners, to ensure that processes to support student learning are in place and operating effectively.

Clarify and translate how the vision and mission for the college will increase the skills of all learners, improve transition and progression and promote access to further education and employment.

Develop a positive and supportive culture for all staff and learners, working towards the highest standards, driving aspiration for all staff and learners to reach excellenceand to ensure ncn is the first choice for young people.

Engage and support the planning and development of Enrichment activities for all students.

Support and champion the implementation of quality assurance processes for the relevant learning programmes, to include involvement in all relevant meetings/advisory groups.

Contribute to theplanning and allocation of resources in order to support excellent teaching and learning activities. This includes advising on the level of resource and promoting research.

Work with the Head of Academy to liaise with guidance teams to integrate information, advice and guidance into allprogrammes and facilitate appropriate progression routes.

Support the Head of Academy to enableall teams to provide an accurate and timely service in relation to the recruitment, selection and induction activities of students.

Promote and develop all opportunities for learner involvement, with a focus on improving the experience and skills of individual learners.

Ensure that all staff increasetheir own and their learners’ experience of the workplace and employability skills.

Ensure that employability is designed as part of the student entitlement within every programme.

Review the curriculum offer to ensure that it is relevant and meets the needs of learners, business and where possible makes transition from schools more seamless.

Work with Head of Academy to develop and promote teams and staff who are able to challenge and support each other on their performance, with anyone being able to advocate on behalf of the learner.

Support the Head of Academy in promotional activities, to include careers conventions and corporate events.

Lead curriculum development within the learning programmes to which you contribute, guiding and co-ordinating the work of other team members to achieve planned outcomes.

Be the ‘champion’ of curriculum development within the Academy, working with all staff to inspire and innovate.

Collaborate with the Head of Academy to identify and work with areas of greatest need and impact.

Collaborate with the Head of Academy:

  • On developments in teaching, learning and assessment, new Initiatives, ensuring excellent retention and achievement, shaping the curriculum to meet learner needs
  • On all aspects of quality, learner involvement and equality and diversity.
  • To ensure excellence in the quality of provision for all learners.
  • To identify, support and promote progression.

Collaborate with all Advanced Practitioners for Teaching and Learning to identify a clear and sustained focus on continually improving the quality of teaching, ascertaining impact through a fair and thorough lesson observation process linked to staff appraisal, performance management and learner feedback.

Collaborate with and support staff in developing, implementing and evaluating innovative strategies to enhance the student experience at ncn.
