Merve Jupp

Swan Athletic pigeon club

I.R.P.F. of Western Australia

Merve started racing in 1989 in that time he has won the club averages seven times, in 1969 he finished 9th in the federation flier of the year, so far this year after seven races he is the leading loft in the fed, Merve is a firm believer that if you can find some good pigeons you are more than half way there he also believes that you must have certain skills in terms of animal husbandry to enjoy any success in our sport, Merve acquired a pair of birds from the Blenhaven stud these birds were of the Barker x Bionic breed , besides breeding the fed topper they have also bred numerous placed birds for him including sires and special ring events there is a preference for the old Australian family’s in the loft including the Goodgers Merve received a lot of pleasure when he was successful in the Carnarvon combine a distance of 800 km that day he won the fed with two birds on the drop in that race where there were only 17 birds home on the second day in the fed, in the past two years Merve has finished 7th in the last two Carnarvon combines, the birds are fed a basic mix that is 10 wheat 4 peas and 2 barley , the birds are tossed 2/3 times a week in any direction the birds are housed in a basic loft with a mesh floor the doors slide across , this helps to keep the birds warm on the very cold nights experienced between June and August Merve is a classic example of acquiring good birds keeping them healthy through sound management and reaping the rewards.
