Annual Floor Meeting of the Hartford School Board and Town of Hartford Select Board

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Moderator, Michael Kainen called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM.
School District Warrant Items:
Ø Lori Dickerson reads the Resolution for the Hartford Town Select Board. The Resolution is in recognition of the $8.9 million dollar joint recreation bond passed in March of this year.
Ø To receive the reports of the Board of Directors: Jeff Arnold motions to receive the reports of the Board of School Directors. Kevin Christie seconds the motion. No discussion, majority verbal vote passes the motion.
Ø To see what compensation the school District will vote to pay the Board of School Directors from School District funds pursuant to 16 V.S.A. 562: Peter Merrill motions to continue to compensate the School Board Directors $40.00 per meeting. Kevin Christie seconds the motion. A majority verbal vote passes the motion.
Ø To do any other necessary and proper non-binding business: None
Ø Recognition of individuals for their service to the Hartford School District presented by Superintendent Thomas DeBalsi: Mr. DeBalsi publicly thanks the numerous volunteers who work with the students daily.
Ø Presentation by each of the Hartford Schools and The Hartford Area Career & Technology Center:
1) HMMS jazz band plays another piece and John Grant introduces Chris Putnam-Pouliot who brought with her 2 HMMS students to discuss TSA, History Fair and their Advisory Block
2) White River School was presented by Sheila Powers and 5 WRS students. The students presented their goals and explained how they were being responsible learners.
3) Dothan Brook Principal Rick Dustin-Eichler brought 3 staff members with him to explain the technology multiple device learning. Mr. Dustin-Eichler also thanked many school volunteers from PTO to community businesses.
4) Nelson Fogg introduced Katie Hluchyj (Spanish teacher HHS) and Hayden Cox, a senior who went on the Dominican Republic trip. They presented a slide show of the trip. Mr. Fogg thanked Ms. Hluchyj and Mr. Hemming who volunteered to chaperon the trip with the HHS students. The high school also had trips to Germany, France, Montreal, and Boston this year.
5) HACTC Director, Doug Heavisides introduced Melanie Taylor (Mascoma student DIMA), Antonio Centzone(Lebanon student CA), and Audrey Devost(Hartford BA student). The three Tech Center students talked about their classes, CTSO and the experience at the Tech Center.
6) Amos Kornfeld, OQS Principal introduced Eliza Hutchinson, a kindergarten teacher. Mr. Hutchinson showed a presentation of volunteers at OQS. Kinder guiding a unique program with volunteers from the community who do trail conservation with the students.
Peter Merrill makes an additional motion for additional compensation of $150.00 per annum for the Chairman and $75.00 per annum for the clerk. Kevin Christie seconds the motion. No discussion. A majority verbal vote passes the motion.
At 11:47 AM the school District portion of the Floor Meeting is concluded.
