JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Director of Development, St. Mark’s Episcopal Academy
POSITION STATUS: Exempt, FT, 12 month
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
- Five (5) years non-profit administrative and development experience
- Physically able to perform assigned duties
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have a strong knowledge of all aspects of advancement, including capital fundraising, endowment building, planned giving, annual giving, grant writing, marketing and communications. Extensive computer software experience including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Database management systems. Experience with software designed for foundation and alumni tracking/programming. Excellent knowledge in business communications and financial management. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and make decisions as required in the absence of the Head of School.

- Performance Responsibilities
- Work as part of an integrated team to establish and implement goals and strategies for increasing private support to the School.
- Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
- Work with Board of Directors to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs
- Comply with all grant reporting as required by school/corporate donors.
- Increase funds by researching and targeting charitable trusts whose criteria match the school’s aims and activities
- Manage the school’s current Annual Fund program to serve as the foundation of all giving programs.
- Develop a comprehensive stewardship program and recognition plan.
- Coordinate a donor centered program that involves systems and database management.
- Directs and maintains a comprehensive and accurate fundraising data base to include all alumni records and all past and prospective donors and all grant tracking and reporting.
- Develop and implement a planned giving program.
- Cultivate major donors and encourage major gifts.
- Raising awareness of the school and its work at a local level, e.g. by giving talks to groups or seeking photo opportunities with the local media
- Serve as primary liaison to the Board of Trustees in advancement matters.
- Work with staff and the Board of Trustees to evaluate progress in meeting strategic objectives, and when necessary, revise and implement the advancement portions of the Strategic Plan, including staffing and working with the Advancement Committee.
- Act as an advisor to the Head of School on advancement matters relating to the school.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, bend, squat, reach, lift, carry, push or pull light/ moderate weights.
