SECTION 22 66 00
Fabrication: Tank shall be of molded, seamless construction, with flanged top and boltdown cover. The centerline of the inlet and the outlet piping shall be at the same elevation and the inlet dip tube shall be a minimum of 4inches above the bottom of the tank. The centerline of the vent opening shall be a minimum of 1inch above the centerline of the inlet and outlet.
Distributor Box: The inlet dip tube will have a polypropylene distributor box to keep the neutralization agent from clogging the outlet piping. The distributor box shall be a factory installed, 9inch cube with perforated sides, and the solid top will be drilled to allow the outlet pipe to be extended into the box.
Extensions: Below grade installations shall be furnished with a polypropylene walled adjustable extension, a manway and a primer painted, 1/4inch thick nonskid steel deck plate cover with lift ring.
Neutralization Agent: The neutralization agent shall be limestone chips, 2to 3inches in size, and with a calcium carbonate content in excess of 90percent. Contractor shall provide the required amount of this neutralization agent to fill the tank to a level just below tank outlet. Water shall be added to the tank before placement of neutralization agent.
PART - EXECUTION
ABOVE GROUND PIPING INSTALLATION
Pipe Routing: Contractor shall ascertain location of electrical panelboards, and shall keep piping out of area above panelboards, for a distance of 3'6" in front of and 1'6" from each side of panelboards. This includes all VAV box control panels.
BELOW GROUND PIPING INSTALLATION
Trenching: Trench bottom shall be continuous, relatively smooth and free of rocks. Where ledge rock, hardpan or boulders are encountered, pad trench bottom using a minimum of 4inches of tamped earth or sand beneath pipe.
Trenches under slabs shall allow for a 12inch depth of cover over pipe. In open locations, trench depth shall allow for top of pipe to be at least 12inches below the maximum expected depth of frost penetration.
Shield pipe installed beneath surfaces which could be subjected to heavy static weight or constant traffic within a metal or concrete casing.
Backfilling: Fill piping with water of an ambient soil temperature and check joints. Cover to a depth of 6to 8inches with dirt which is free of rocks, debris or particles larger than 1/2inch. Joints shall remain exposed for inspection.
Leave piping to settle and normalize dimensionally; check joints for tightness and tamp soil layer which will act as a cushion for subsequent backfill. During tamping, Contractor shall see that pipe alignment, both vertical and horizontal, is not upset.

SECTION 22 66 00
When laying long runs of piping in high air temperatures, Contractor shall begin from a fixed point and work away from that point, testing and backfilling in accordance with preceding paragraph. This shall allow piping to assume soil temperature progressively as work proceeds.
Thoroughly test system for leaks. When tests prove satisfactory, cover joints with soil and remainder of complete backfill. Sharp rocks which could penetrate initial layer and damage pipe shall be removed prior to final backfill.
INSTALLATION OF POLYPROPYLENE PIPE SYSTEM
General: System shall be installed in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and governing plumbing code. Pipe and fittings in masonry construction to be protected in accordance with manufacturers recommendations.
Glass Pipe System: Install entire system free of stress. Horizontal lines shall allow for lateral movement of pipe and shall be supported by padded hangers every 8to 10feet. Support vertical lines by a padded riser clamp under bottom-most coupling in stack. Riser clamp shall restrict lateral, as well as downward movement.
Support 3inch and larger diameter stacks at each floor by a riser clamp on the pipe at outside diameter.
Support smaller diameter stacks at every other floor.
Pad riser clamps with 1/4inch thick solid Neoprene or BunaN rubber.
Support above ground horizontal acid resistant glass waste and vent piping and fittings in accordance with manufacturers instructions. Insulate in accordance with Specification Section Insulation.
Floor and Wall Penetrations:
Glass pipe passing through fire rated walls or floor slabs shall be installed in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories fire penetration systems for KIMAX glass pipe. System Number 90 or 282 of the UL Building Materials Directory shall be used for concrete or block, floor or wall penetrations. System Number 154 of the UL Building Materials Directory shall be used for gypsum wall penetrations.
Installation and Testing:

Do not use mechanical tamping methods. Tanks shall be filled with water and neutralization agent before backfilling. No backfill shall be placed on the top of the tank.
Tank shall not be used to support manhole covers, traffic of any kind, or heavy equipment.
The access cover shall be installed with a finished height that will match the floor finish material and will have an epoxy paint finish.
Tank shall not be supported by inlet, outlet, or vent piping system.
Do not subject tank to pressurized or vacuum applications. Pressure tests shall be conducted only on the piping, do not pressure test tank.
