ITINERARY

Bear Tracks Lake Loop, Mount Evans Wilderness, CO

On ______, ______is hiking the Mount Evans Wilderness in the Front Range, west of Denver. The trip is anticipated to be of easy to moderate difficulty; this is an ideal first backpacking trip. If you have not been on a true backpacking trip, consider your gear and weather carefully.

Water is expected at camps but it never to be considered certain, especially in this dry year. This is a full backpack trip in a beautiful sub-alpine environment of Mt. Evans, one of Colorado's peaks over 14,000 feet.

Trailhead Directions- From Denver, take I-70 westto Evergreen Parkway exit, go 6 miles south on CO 74 to Evergreen Lake, turn right on Upper Bear Creek Rd., 6.5 miles to County Road 480, go 3 miles right on County Road 480. Continue on road 195 to Camprock Trailhead.

SCHEDULE

FridayDay 1, (3.5 Miles)

4:30 pm arrive Camp Rock Trailhead and begin hike (sack dinner is ideal)

7:00 pm arrive Mt. Evans Shelter House campsite and make camp and High Tea, dinner, check in for the night

10:00 Lights out

SaturdayDay 2, (2.2 Miles)

7:00 up and about, breakfast, make ready for hike to Bear Track Lakes.

12:00 Lunch on the trail/camp

4:00 High tea

5:00 Dinner cook in camp, check in for the night

10:00 Lights out

SundayDay 3, (5.0 Miles DOWNHILL!!).

7:00 Up and about, morning camp fire, breakfast, pack up and make ready to move out.

8:00 begin hike to cars.

1:00 arrive cars and congratulate ourselves on how cool we are.

WEATHER (expected)

Likely to be dry and in the 80 degrees. But, it isn’t sure; be prepared for 40 degrees and rain or snow. These are the Colorado Mountains and nearly any weather system is possible.
