O*Net Stretch
We use O*Net to research careers to complete our Bell Ringer Chart. Now you will try to research a career from EACH of the 16 clusters. We call this a stretch because you may not be interested in some job clusters but you must try to find at least one job in each for which you may someday be qualified or feel would fit your personality, values, or skills. Be open to looking at new things!
1. Open an Internet browser, such as Internet Explorer/Google Chrome.
2. In the address bar, type http://online.onetcenter.org/ or do a search for O*net online careers.
3. When at the main page look at the top menu bar where it says, “Find Occupations” and choose “Career Cluster”.
4. You will use the drop down box to change from cluster to cluster. You will need to “Go” after you select the next career cluster.
5. Search by each of the 16 clusters. List ONE job that you COULD possibly consider based on: tasks, skills, abilities, work activities, education, work styles or values that you feel match you.
6. List the job you chose on this sheet beside the cluster name.
7. List WHY you MIGHT have chosen this job or how it matches you. Be sure to explain your reasoning. 3 sentence minimum for each section. Use complete sentences
8. Be sure to answer ALL of the questions in a CONTRASTING and EASY TO READ font COLOR (if you complete on the computer). Complete the following on a Word Document or Google Document. Then save to your M Drive or Google drive and submit to Schoology.
