Digital elevation models

The Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia issues data on digital relief, which were produced together with the digital orthophotos, and the data of the Digital relief model.

DMV 5 was produced in 2006 together with the cyclic aerial survey and the production of orthophoto.In addition to the data of cyclic aerial surveys, certain other data were also used for the production of the model.

The features of the Digital relief model 5m x 5m are:

  • The model’s accuracy is 1m in open terrain and 3m in overgrown terrain.
  • The model covers the entire area of Slovenia and was produced in one year.
  • It is available in a 5m x 5m grid.

Digital relief model of Slovenia is a system which encompasses data from digital elevation models of Slovenia and its surroundings with grid resolutions of 12.5m, 25m and 100m.The model includes more than 25 types of elevation data acquired between 1947 and 2005, such as digital relief models with resolutions between 10 and 600m, digitalized contour lines, road and railway layers of different scales, geodetic points, the Building Cadastre, etc.

The features of the Digital relief model of Slovenia are:

  • the elevation model is homogeneous and contains no gross errors,
  • the elevation model encompasses a wider area surrounding Slovenia,
  • the elevation model comprises more than 353 million points at the 12.5-meter resolution,
  • the estimated accuracy of the model is 3.2m,

2.DATA FORMAT

Digital elevation model data are issued in the YXZ format.The basic issuing unit is a TTN5 sheet.The sheet covers 3000m by 2,250m. Slovenia is covered by 3258 TTN5 sheets.

YXZ format

Data is issued in ASCII format (y, x, H).Output format example:
