Advanced Audio/ Video Production 2014-2015

Welcome to Advanced Audio/Video Production, an immersion into the art of making film & video programs. This class will focus on developing and producing various programs which will focus on school oriented topics that are relevant and informational. The centerpiece project will be Mustang News, a news format program aired during MAP class. In addition, the students will refine their skills in project development, planning, scripting, shooting and post-production efforts.

The course uses the Adobe CS5 Production Premium Software Suite. Students will use Photoshop, Premiere, Encore, After Effects and Audition to craft their projects from concept to completion. Facilities include a full studio with professional lighting controls and accompanying control room complete with a switcher, audio board and wireless microphone units. Equipment used by the students include Canon T5i and T3i, GoPro, Sony HD-FX7, and Sony HVR-1000U cameras, Sony, Sennheiser and Audio-Technicawireless microphone systems, Lowel portable light kits, shotgun microphones and many other ancillary items.

Course Objectives

To produce and direct quality video productions with a realistic understanding of resources, capabilities and goals.

To gain experience in the planning and execution of professional video production.

To function in a crew position contributing as a team member to the completion of projects.

To understand the pre-production, production and post-production processes in video production.

To engage in critical self-evaluation as it applies to one's work on one's own project as well as one's work on other projects.

Equipment and Computer Use

Students will be responsible for loss or damage of any video equipment.

Improper use of video equipment will result in loss of equipment use privileges.

Inappropriate use of the computer will result in loss of computer privileges.

All group members are responsible for equipment checked out.
