VI: Discussion and Action

11. Facilities Maintenance Training Program Enc. 18

The Board of Education currently encourages Building Operations and Maintenance Staff to attend and complete the HVAC Program offered by the Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky. The employee is required to complete the course annually with a grade of “C” or higher in order for the Board to pay for the cost of tuition and books. The Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky recently added a Facilities Maintenance course that includes many of the job skills desired for the Building Operations and Maintenance job classifications. (see the Facilities Maintenance course overview in enclosure 16.

Recommendation: It is recommended that the Kenton County Board of Education accept the Facility Maintenance Course offered by the Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky in addition to their current HVAC offering, covering the cost of tuition and books for Building Operations and Maintenance Staff completing the course annually with a grade of “C” or higher.
