SIT Agenda

Direction One: Safe and Supportive Learning Environment

  • Monthly Drills – fire drill has taken place and lock down will take place later this week
  • Teacher badges – any issues need to go to Dora Gonzalez. Most important is signing-in in the morning and exits during the day.
  • Watch D.O.G.S Kick-off update – 16 dads signed up. $24 were spent on pizza.

Direction Two: College and Career Readiness

  • College Showcases–will start this Friday, August 26, 2016. Mr. Garcia has e-mailed schedule. The COW can be used to put showcases together.
  • OCB – all doors need to be covered, with a QR code.

Direction Three: Highly Qualified, Effective Faculty and Staff

  • Staffing – We lost a 4th grade section by 1 student. We lost a 3rd grade section by 2 students. Ms. Ramos will be going to Pre-K and Mr. von Twistern will be going to 2nd grade.

We have recommended Ms. Varela as a permanent substitute.

  • Pre-K TIAS – Full day teachers will be getting 25 hrs a day and half day teachers will get 2 TIAS for 3 hrs a day.
  • Tutoring –Sept 12 – Tuesdays and Thursdays

Direction Four: Home, School, Community Partnerships

  • AVID, SSI, Science Fair-Sept 7th– Science is a requirement for 3rd, 4th and 5th parents and it will be combined with SSI and AVID. It will take place from 5:00 to 6:30
  • Math and Science Night-November 17th from 5:00 to 6:30.
  • Career Day – September 28, 2016 from 7:30-10:30. SIT reps will collect $5 from each member of their grade level and turn it in to Dora.
  • Sign-up for Direction IV – will be e-mailed to Ms. Fuentes

Direction Five: Accountability for All

  • Lunch application contest” – Free dress and a dance for any class that meets 100%. The teacher does not need to help chaperone.
  • Attendance initiatives – Attendance has improved compared to last year, yet teachers still need to have classroom incentives to promote attendance.
  • Tutoring Partnerships – Lower grade teachers will be partnered with upper grade teachers to help each other with tutoring.
  • Lesson plans/Documentation – Folders have been made for each teacher. They need to be turned into Ms. Ratliff. Lesson plans need to be visible for administration.

Grade Level Concerns:

  • September 6th – 16th will be the window for staff development survey
  • PreK – ½ day Prek would like 100 more copies since they have double the number of students.
  • Kinder – would like to have more copies only to get them started for the year in August.
  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th – no concerns
  • 5th grade – replenish the science lab. Mr. Mijares and Mr. Cardenas are willing to go out and purchase the items. Ms. Alt explained we need to go through our vendors; otherwise, get bids. Ms. Terrazas asked Mr. Mijares to come up with a wish list and turn it in to the office.
