Dear Parent / Guardian,
Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year and Carrington Middle Schools Challengers team!! I am very excited to introduce myself as your child’s English/Language Arts teacher.
My name is Aprile Giordano, this is my 6th year teaching with a diverse background ranging from 7th through 12th grade. I am originally from Connecticut, where I completed my education and began my teaching career. This is my second year at CarringtonMiddle School and with Durham Public Schools.
Attached you will find my class syllabus along with my contact information as well as my class expectations and required material. It is important that each student has the materials requested: Composition book, two pocket folder, and notebook or binder portion for this class.
While Carrington does offer a team webpage, the Challenger Team also decided to create a team Facebook page that we invite both parents and students to join.
This page will keep a record of class assignments, notes, homework, and study guides for all four of your child’s core classes. It also gives students an opportunity to share ideas, comment on class activities, and keep up with their school work. It is expected that students use the Facebook page appropriately as any inappropriate content will result in disciplinary action.
I look forward to a successful year in preparing your child for high school while successfully completing 8th grade. Should you have any questions, concerns, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to contact me. I strongly encourage parents to communicate via email for the most prompt response during school hours. Also, please do not hesitate to contact me via text message should you ever have any questions regarding assignments or behavior during the evening or weekends. Lastly, please keep in mind that the classrooms are always in need of boxes of tissue, hand sanitizer, and magazines….. Please donate to your child’s classrooms.
Have a blessed and wonderful school year!!
Truly,
Aprile Giordano
