Procedure Classroom Management
Set: (15 Min)- I will have all the students stand in a line facing the same way. Before they stand up I will give the students the rules and procedures. I will tell the students that I am going to ask them questions. I will tell them that I would like them to cross the tape line on the floor if the question has ever happened to them. By the end each student will have crossed the line at least once. This will show the students that everyone has had experiences either with a bully, being bullied, or bullying someone. / - I will have the students sitting in their desks while I explain the rules. I will then ask the students to stand behind the tapped line with their hands to themselves.
Development: (15 min)
- I will have the students each pick a characteristic from a hat. I will tell the students that when they hear their characteristic in the story they are to stand up. By the end of the story all the students should be standing up. This will show the students that everyone is different and that if we are all different is there anyone left to pick on? / - I will have the students sit in their desks while they each pick a characteristic. The students will be reminded that his is a fun activity and if they wish to continue doing it them must show responsibility for themselves.
Closure: (15 min)
- As a closure we will sing Don’t Laugh at me. I will put the words on the overhead for the students to read along.
- If there is time I would like the students to write a paragraph on how it felt when they were bullied or bullied someone. / - I will have the students sit in their desks while we sing.
Don‘t Laugh At Me
I’m a little boy with glasses, the one they call a geek.
A little girl who never smiles ’cause I’ve got braces on my teeth.
And I know how it feels to cry myself to sleep.
I’m that kid on every playground, who’s always chosen last.
I’m the one who’s slower that the others in my class.
You don’t have to be my friend, but is that to much to ask?
Don’t laugh at me.
I’m the beggar on the corner.
You’ve passed me on the street.
I wouldn’t be out here beggin’ if I had enough to eat.
Don’t you think I notice that our eyes never meet.
I was born a little different.
I do my dreaming from this chair.
I pretend it doesn’t hurt me when people point and stare.
There’s a simple way to show me just how much you care.
Don’t laugh at me.
Don’t call me names.
Don’t get your pleasure from my pain.
In God’s eyes, we’re all the same.
Someday we’ll all have prefect wings.
Don’t laugh at me!
I’m fat, I’m thin,
I’m short, I’m tall,
I’m deaf, I’m blind.
Hey, aren’t we all?
