I.  ADOPTION OF AGENDA

Carol Kimbrough welcomed all members and guests. The agenda was adopted as published.

II.  CONSENT ITEMS:

a.  Approval of Minutes, 5/16/2013

b.  Music ensemble courses eligible for audit – all Music courses between MUS-20 and Music 34.5 [MUS 21, 23.1, 23.2, 23.3, 23.5, 29.1, 29.2, 29.3, 34.1, 34.3, 34.4]

c.  Establish discipline designator: AAT (Advanced Automotive Technology)

Motion: MSC (vote: unanimous) to approve consent items a, b, and c.

III.  ONE READING ITEMS – ACTION

(The order of the agenda is modified to accommodate presentation schedules or other circumstanced related to the logical flow or efficiency of committee actions).

a.  COURSE REVISIONS:

1. AOD-1, Fundamentals of Chemical Dependency, 3 units

Modifications: materials, assignments

Carol Kimbrough presented the modifications to all AOD courses.

Motion: MSP (vote unanimous) to approve modifications to AOD-1

2. AOD-2, Pharmacology and Physiology of Alcohol and Other Drugs, 3 units

Modifications: materials, assignments

Motion: MSP (vote unanimous) to approve modifications to AOD-2

3. AOD-3, Intervention, Treatment and Recovery, 3 units

Modifications: materials, assignments

Motion: MDP (Vote unanimous) to approve modifications to AOD-3

4. ART-1B, Art History Survey II, 3 units [C-ID ARTH-120]

Modifications: Description, objectives, content, materials

Jerri Nemiro presented modifications to this course. The course content, objectives and description were changed to align more closely with the C-ID descriptor for ARTH-120.

Motion: MSP (vote unanimous) to approve modifications to ART-1B

5. BUS-32, Introduction to Business, 3 units [C-ID BUS-120]

Modifications: Objectives, content

Bob Maffei presented modifications to this course needed to align more closely with the C-ID descriptor for ACCT-120.

Motion: MSP (vote unanimous) to approve modifications to BUS-32

6. THA-18, Voice and Diction, 3 units

Modifications: MOE, materials.

Jeff McGrath was present to discuss modifications to this course.

Motion: MSP (vote: majority aye, one opposed) to approved reactivation of THA-18

IV. TWO READING ITEMS, FIRST READING – NO ACTION

a. NEW COURSES:

1.  MUS-8, American Popular Music, 3 units

Beth Ratay and Steve Ettinger presented this new course proposal for a first reading. Committee members provided suggestions for revisions. This course will be considered for possible inclusion in Ethnic Groups in the US.

2.  RCP-226, Success Strategies for 2nd Semester RCP Students, 0.5 units

Tanya Ho discussed her new course proposal which would help students to succeed in the Respiratory Care Practitioner program.

V. TWO READING ITEMS, FIRST READING – NO ACTION

a. NEW PPROGRAM:

1. AA-T, Studio Arts

Jerri Nemiro discussed the development of the AA-T in Studio Arts. Committee members reviewed the TMC template, suggesting modifications. All courses have been aligned with the CI-D descriptors.

VI. FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER

a. Update on Kuali Student curriculum module “sandbox”

Members were asked for their feedback on the demonstration module.

b. Review of Ethnic Groups in the US guidelines

Current guidelines on course inclusion in this category were distributed to committee members.

VII. ADJOURNMENT/NEXT MEETING DATE

Meeting was adjourned at 3:30 pm. A CurricUNET training will be held in the LIC next Thursday 9/26 to provide instruction to new faculty. Next meeting date will be 10/3/2013 from 2:00-4:00 pm
