Appointments to MPF Schemes Advisory Committee

The Chief Executive has appointed Mr Lee Kai-ming as the Chairperson and re-appointed the Managing Director of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) as the Deputy Chairperson of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Advisory Committee for a term of two years with effect from next Friday (March 30).
At the same time, the Financial Secretary, in exercise of the authority delegated by the Chief Executive, appointed two new members, Mr Stanley Lau Chin-ho and Mr Wong Kwok-kin, to the advisory committee. The other seven re-appointed members of the Committee are Mr Chan Kin-por, Mr Bob Chong Hot-hoi, Mr Albert Ho Chun-yan, Mr Lam Yim-nam, Mr Leung Fu-wah, Mr Alvin Wong Tak-wai and Mr V-Nee Yeh. The appointments and re-appointments will also take effect from March 30, 2007 for a term of two years.
Expressing gratitude to the outgoing chairperson, Professor Nelson Chow Wing-sun, a government spokesperson said today (March 23), "Professor Chow has served the advisory committee with dedication and total devotion since its establishment in 1998."
"We would also like to thank Dr Danny Ngai Kam-fai and the Hon Li Fung-ying, for their contribution to the Advisory Committee over the years," the spokesperson said.
Launched in 2000, the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) System has been operating smoothly. The advisory committee is a statutory body which advises the MPFA with respect to the operation of the MPF Schemes Ordinance as well as the effectiveness and efficiency of the MPFA.
"With a broad-based and balanced membership, the Government is confident that the advisory committee, under the leadership of Mr Lee Kai-ming, will continue to offer valuable advice to the MPFA and contribute to the continued smooth operation of the MPF System," the spokesperson said.
