Dear Mr Hughes

Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA)

Request for Information

I refer to your information request received by the Council on 7 February 2013 in which you ask for the following information:

Of the 1,941 businesses in South Lanarkshire that received a Rateable Valuation in 2010 that was less than the previous valuation for that business, can you confirm:

  • How many of these businesses were public houses?
  • How many of them were in the G72 postcode area?
  • How many of them received a lower valuation as a result of an appeal against the original valuation by the assessor in 2010?

The Council can give you all of the information that it has in relation to your request, as follows:

Of the 1,941 businesses in South Lanarkshire that received a rateable valuation in 2010 that was less that the previous valuation for that business;

  • 31 of these 1,941 properties were public houses
  • 183 of these 1,941 properties were in the G72 postcode area
  • None of these 1,941 properties received a lower valuation as the result of an appeal against the rateable value by the assessor in 2010. All of these reductions were due to the revaluation by the Lanarkshire Valuation Joint Board on 1 April 2010.
