The Director Care Worker is responsible for all aspects of the client’s care. These responsibilities include but not limited to activities of daily living, program implementation, behavioral monitoring, medication administration, community functions and all required documentation.

Essential Functions (List the tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the position that are most important to get the job done. The responsibilities should be listed in the order of importance, with the highest priority functions first.):

  1. Follow all Lutheran Services Carolinas policies and procedures

2.  Provide personal care/assistance and/or habilitation in accordance with the Department of Health & Human Services Service Definition Manual per client’s authorized service and units.

3.  Provide a supportive therapeutic relationship with the client which addresses and implements interventions outlines in the Person Centered Plan and to adhere to the client’s approved Behavior plan/Guidelines and/or Crisis Plan;

4.  Provide training and/or supervision in accordance with an client’s age and emotional needs and in accordance with their person centered plan; and structure the client’s activities and daily routine in the home, school, and other environments in efforts to enhance social roles and community membership;

5.  Assist the client in the development of social and age appropriate behaviors. The Direct Care Worker will support the client in the development/maintenance of good personal care and hygiene habits. The Direct Care Worker will train/assist the client in household chores and responsibilities, money management, etc., as identified in the person centered plan

6.  Responsible for medication administration.

7.  Responsible for completing and providing all required documentation on behaviors, incidents and progress on goals and any other documentation as required by the area program and/or Lutheran Services Carolinas.

8.  Responsible for participating in orientation sessions, scheduled service Host meetings, and any training mandated by the state and /or area program.

9.  Respond to other specific duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent; 1 year experience in human services preferred

Specific skills/abilities: Must possess personal characteristics, physical ability and temperament suited to working with people.

Specialized knowledge, licenses, etc: Valid NC driver’s license; automobile passes a NC Vehicle Inspection / Safety and Emissions (OBDII), adequate insurance coverage, Minimum age of 21
